Letter of Intent
Virtually everything we see around us today has had some input from a Mechanical engineer at some point in its
development. This fact demonstrates how this field touches the lives of virtually everyone in our country.
Mechanical engineering traces its roots to the math and Physics of Newton, sketches of da Vinci, the power of
the steam engine and the exuberance of the Wright brothers’ epic flight. Mechanical engineering is at the
forefront of solving global problems such as sustainable energy production, it does this by firstly making
processes operate safely, efficiently and economically and secondly by modify old processes and devise new
ones. It is needless to elaborate the role Mechanical Engineering has played in unravelling the secrets of nature
and always been at the helm of every technology revolution witnessed by scientific community. The landscapes
pictured by Maxwell, Schrodinger, Dirac, Feynman, Fermi, Bose, James Watt, Rudolf Diesel, Ferdinand
Porsche, Ferenc Anisits becomes particularly essential while seeking the common thread for unified
understanding of the natural and industrial world. From the ancient Greek invention of the steam engine the
reach and impact of mechanical engineering can be traced back through the ages and generation to map its
evolvement to this very day.It came to even more prominence in modern times during the industrial revolution,
and it now has various practical applications today. Mechanical engineers influence our lives in many different
ways. .I took up automobile engineering as my final year elective so that I could get initiated into the field.
Butwhat I realized was that it provided a very limited view of what I wanted to study. I got to know the
basicfunctioning of the various mechanical systems of the automobile like the I.C. engine, clutches,
brakes, transmission, powertrain and differentials. Mechanical engineering by itself has a vast number of subjects
and if I wanted an in depth understanding of a particular subject, Masters became an obviousnecessity. A
Masters degree would allow me to delve deeper into individual aspects of automotiveengineering by studying
them in greater detail and also to gain practical experience by way of relevantinternships. Hence, I took up the
decision to pursue a master’s degree in automobile engineering.I have been a sincere and consistent student
throughout my academic career as is evident from myacademic records.. During my third yearof undergraduate
studies, I made a presentation on the catalytic convertor and during my 4th year I successfully completed my
project working model of gearless power transmission. I have chosen to study at Turkey because it has a rising
and growing reputation in Mechanical Engineering and I believe that I can benefit from the technology that the
country has developed in all areas of the field. I feel that Turkey has the right combination and arrangement of
academic professionalism, welcoming atmosphere and a lively social scene.
In this section, it is expected to explain following details: your academic and social experiences relating the field you want to take an education, your
reasons for choosing Turkey for study and the importance of your future plans for your education and scholarship in Turkey. You can write the letter of
intent in the language you can express yourself.
