Oral Hygiene & Prevention of Dental diseases

Oral hygiene is very important in keeping the mouth healthy. This will prevent dental problems
from trying to invade the mouth. Oral diseases brought by viral, bacterial, and fungal infection
can originate from the mouth. At more times, poor dental care can lead to oral cancer. If the
damage is too much, there may be nothing left to do to bring it back to its original form.

Prevention of dental problems is duly recommended in order to stop the increasing number of
oral diseases. Commonly, some oral complications can be avoided through good oral habits.
There are several ways how to take care of the mouth effectively particularly the teeth.

Some of these are even the simplest ways and can be done regularly at home. Other intense
procedures need professional help to ensure safety and correct techniques. It will be wise to
make a routine plan of your dental care activities on a daily basis so that you won’t forget doing
it.

Brushing Teeth

On top of every dental problem prevention is brushing the teeth twice daily. It is being
recommended to use a soft toothbrush because it is able to flex and reach the curb side of the
tooth. Do this for about 2 minutes per brushing. Meanwhile hard or firm tooth brush can harm
the protective coating of the teeth making it dull and rough. Over tooth brushing and hard
toothbrush causes the gum to bleed. Certain mouthwash use helps wash away the cavities that
are attached on the gums and teeth making it clearer. Food debris that is caught in spaces
between the teeth can be removed by dental flossing.

Healthy Oral Diet

Eating the right kind of food contributes to having a good set of teeth. Healthy foods make the
teeth strong to withstand any condition. Sodas, (Diet included), Energy Drinks (Monsters, Amp,
Red Bull, etc) are extremely harmful to your teeth due to the acid content and any sugars present.
One must brush and clean after consumption of these beverages.

Because we all love to consume products like soda, candy and other harmful foods, it is
extremely important to visit the dentist. This is important because we might find some
discrepancies with your teeth that needs immediate repair. This should be given attention so that
infected tooth will not damage the other healthy teeth or become painful in the future.
