It does not tolerate any behaviour which diminishes the academic reputation
of the University, impairs the ability of scholars to participate in any
legitimate University activity or disrupts the peace or good order of the
University.
PURPOSE This policy was developed to allow the University to adopt a consistent
approach for all types of student misconduct.
SCOPE This policy applies to all CQUniversity students including research and
postgraduate students. This includes research and postgraduate students
awaiting final assessment and examination.
RESPONSIBILITY The University Secretary has responsibility for the overall implementation of
FOR this policy. Responsibility for implementation of the associated procedures
IMPLEMENTATION lies with the University Secretary (or nominee), Director, Governance,
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Higher Education) and Deputy Deans (Learning
and Teaching).
COMPLIANCE AND The Misconduct Committees, the University Secretary (or nominee), and the
MONITORING Serious Misconduct Tribunal shall provide a report to Academic Board of
their decisions twice yearly. These reports will include information on policy
compliance.
The Student Misconduct Procedures and the Plagiarism Procedures have been
replaced by the Student Behavioural Misconduct Procedures (which now cover
behavioural misconduct only), Academic Misconduct Procedures (which include the
previous Plagiarism Procedures), and Research Misconduct Procedures.
