1. Write notes on (a) North West Corner Rule


(b) Lowest Cost Entry Method
(c) Vogel’s Approximation Method.
2. A dealer wishes to purchase a number of fans and sewing machines. He has only
Rs.5760 to invest and has space utmost for 20 items. A fan costs him Rs.360 and
sewing machine Rs.240. His expectation is that he can sell a fan at a profit of Rs.22
and a sewing machine at a profit of Rs.18. Assuming that he can sell all the items
that he can buy, how should he invest his money in order to maximise his profit?
Formulate manufacturer produces three products, ordinary chairs.
3. Describe the Phases of OR (Process of OR).
4. Determine an initial basic feasible solution to the following Transportation Problem
using the North West Corner Rule.

1. Solve the following transportation problem whose cost matrix availability at each
plant and requirement at each warehouse are given as follows:

2. ABC limited has three production shops supplying a product to five warehouse. The
cost of product varies from shop to shop and cost of transportation from one shop to
a warehouse also varies. Each shop has a specific production capacity and each
warehouse has certain amount of requirement. The cost of transportation is as given
below
