Executive Summary

Administration of employee data is crucial for efficient management. Whether it is for analysis,
auditing or legal purposes, maintenance and proper management of the personnel data of a
company is of utmost importance. Manual data management methods are close to extinction in
the modern era. Besides its difficult to maintain and exposed to potential errors. That’s why a
holistic database of employee information is not only necessary but also helpful for the
organization and its members. It can act as a single-source-of-truth for all the employees of the
organization. That’s why I have chosen to do my study on ‘Evaluation of Employee Database
Management of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka’.
For an organization like Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, employee database management is far
more important as it has more than 500 employees working on roster basis in 3 shifts. So,
having proper database leads to better employee satisfaction. Having better employee
satisfaction leads to customer satisfaction, which is the utmost important thing for the tourism
and hotel industry.
The primary objective here is to evaluate the Employee Database Management System of Pan
Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. To support it some other objectives are also considered, such as to
show how this database is developed and updated on a regular basis, to highlight on the user
experience of HCD Associates regarding Employee Database, to reveal the satisfaction level
of HCD associates regarding the employee database, to examine problems regarding employee
database management, and to identify alternative measures that can solve those problems.
A questionnaire survey was conducted among the 5 HCD associates to have a better view of
the various aspects of employee database and to fulfill my abovementioned objectives. Giving
a thorough analysis, it is found that the user experience of the employee database is mostly
positive and satisfaction level regarding employee database resides around the quite
satisfactory level. But the system has some flaws too. Mostly because of using an excel sheet
for the database management. Other problems are also there. Like, not having enough
information in the database, difficulty in finding the specific information, manual way of
managing data, extremely cluttered, etc. So, here the primary recommendation is to use the
standalone Database software or HR database solution for this task. Only then they will be able
to fulfill their need without hampering their efficiency.
Pan Pacific Sonargaon is completely aware of the fact of maintaining an employee database
for effective and efficient management of workforce. Now that the organization has a large
number of employees, having an analog database will not be enough. That is why Pan Pacific
Sonargaon has come up with a digital database for employees. To be speedier in making
important decisions such as budget, emergency contact, development of payroll and above all
sharing information with concerned parties without wasting time it is the proven method.
Although it is somewhat costly, the benefits provided by employee database exceeds the costs.
