HOTEL MANAGEMENT

PREFACE

The project training in the 6th semester of the course has given us the
exposure to the real world. It is my great pleasure to present the project on A
HOTEL MANAGEMENT which we conceived during the schedule of BCA
(6thSemester). We have been successful in developing the project in a given time
limit and will give my best.

The aim of project training is to have practical experience of the real

world knowledge in the IT industry. The project development is the acid test of
the theoretical knowledge of student after completing the course. The aim of
developing this project is to reduce the gap between theoretical and practical
knowledge.

We have put on all my efforts for preparing this project as best as

possible within a time limit. We have tried our best to satisfy all the requirements
of the user. We hope that the concerned authority will kindly accept this project.

ABSTRACT

A HOTEL MANAGEMENT is very useful software for managing the hotel

online.

In today’s world online booking is very wide trend. With the help of this
software you can book online room as yours required.

This is software which has mainly made for management of a Hotel. The
software has been designed with front-end as asp.net and backend as Mysql. The
project hotel management manages and maintains the record of customers and
rooms of the hotel.

Customer can book the room through this software. The rooms have
different categories such as A.C., non-A.C. etc. So There charges and records will
be maintained by this software. This software made in a user friendly interface so

PROJECT ANALYSILS

Analysis is an important part of any project. If Analysis is not done

properly then the whole project moves in the wrong direction. It also provides a
schedule for the proper project work.

Analysis task divided into 3 areas :

 Problem Recognition

 Feasibility Study

 Requirement Analysis

Problem Recognition :

It is the phase in which the Current need for the System is to be defined.
This site of Computer Peripherals & Consumables has all the up to date
information. Regarding to all computer Peripherals & Consumables.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT

Feasibility Study :

Feasibility study of the system is a very important stage during system

design. Feasibility study is a test of a system proposal according to its workability
impact on the organization, ability to meet user needs, and effective use of
resources. Feasibility study decides whether the system is properly developed or
not.

Requirement Analysis :

A software product always begins with the customers’ needs. These

needs initially are either in the mind of the customer. Sometimes it is present in
the existing practice where the need is to automate a current manual process.
These software requirements which are there in the mind of the users are usually
informal and not general.

This phase basically converts these informal needs from the user into a
set of formal requirement.

This phase ends up with the SRS (System Requirements Specification).

PREPARED BY ;- Juber Dal & Mohin Makwana Page 9

HOTEL MANAGEMENT

The Requirement Phase has three stages :

1. Problem Analysis

The goal of problem analysis is to obtain a clear understanding of the

requirements of the client and the users.

2. Requirement Specification (SRS)

The SRS makes an Agreement between the user(client) of the system and the
developer on what the software product will do.

3. Requirement Validation

It validates whether the requirement specification document does not

have any error in it. The common errors that may occur are incorrect fact ,
inconsistency and ambiguity.

DATA FLOW DIAGRAM

Data flow design is concerned with designing a sequence of functional

transformation that converts system imports into the required outputs. The
design is represented as data flow diagram illustrated how data flows through a
system and how the output is derived from the input through a sequence of
functional transformations.

Data flow diagrams are useful and intuitive way to describing a system.
They are normally understandable without special training, especially if control
information is excluded. They show end-to-end processing. That is the flow of
processing from when data enters the system to where it leaves the application
can be traced.

PROJECT RISK

 Risk analysis and management are a series of steps that help a

software team to understand and manage uncertainty.

 Many problems can infect a software project.

 A risk is a potential problem -- it might happen, it might not.

 But, regardless of the outcome, it's a really good idea to identify it,
assess its probability of occurrence, and estimate its impact.

 Risk management aims at dealing with all kinds of risks that might
affect a project.

 Type of risk

Risk identification is a systematic attempt to specify threats to the

project plan.

By identifying known and predictable risks the project manager takes

step toward avoiding them when possible and controlling them when
necessary.

One method for identifying risks is to create a risk item checklist.

PREPARED BY ;- Juber Dal & Mohin Makwana Page 14

HOTEL MANAGEMENT

The checklist can be used for risks identification and focuses on some
subset of known and predictable risks in the following generic
subcategories:

 Product size - risks associated with the overall size of the

software to be built or modified.

 Business impact - risks associated with constraints imposed by

management or the marketplace.

 Customer characteristics -risks associated with the constraints

of the customer and the developer’s ability to communicate
with the customer in a timely manner.

 Process definition -risks associated with the degree to which

the software process has been define and is following by the
development organization.

 Development environment -risks associated with the

availability and quality of the tools to be used to build the
product.

 Technology to be built -risks associated with the complexity of

the system to be built and the "newness" of the technology
that is packaged by the system.

 Staff size and experience -risks associated with the overall

technical and project experience of the software engineers
who do the work.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY

Different phases of the project require different tools to be used. In most
application domain oriented projects, it is not type and nature of the tools used,
but the manner in which they are utilized and the overall process follow that is
important.

The tools used are not only versatile in their ability to handle complex
application but their ease of use lends the developer freedom for thinking about
the nuances how to implement ideas as a whole.

Instead the developer can concentrate upon the core application domain
knowledge gathering and the design of the system from users view point and rest
assured that the language and other tools will provide enough features to
implement the same.

 Front End tools (Visual Studio 2012)

Visual Studio.NET, the next version of Visual Studio IDE, is also a key
component of the .NET strategy.

The Visual Studio.NET IDE has also been given a facelift and packed with
a wide variety of new functionalities.

A bitmap editor, debugger, Web Forms designer,Windows Forms

designer,Web Services designer, XML editor, HTML editor,Web browser,
Server Resources Explorer, and multi-language support have all been packed
into one single IDE.

.NET platform

The .NET platform has several components—however, who you ask will
probably affect the answer you receive.

Servers such as BizTalk and SQL Server, as well as services such as .NET My
Services and its first visible component, .NET Passport, are being described by
some as integral parts of the .NET platform.

However, for many of us, the .NET Framework is what we think of when
.NET is mentioned. It includes Visual Studio.NET (VS.NET), the .NET Common
Language Runtime (CLR), and the .NET Base Class Libraries (BCL).

The other components may be required by specific applications, but they

are not a necessary part of all .NET applications.

ASP.NET Features

ASP.NET is more than just the next version of ASP. It is a totally re-
architected technology for creating dynamic, Web-based applications. ASP pages
use the .asp extension and ASP.NET pages use the extension .aspx.

 Multiple Language Support

 Increased Performance

 Classes and Namespaces

 Server Controls

 Web Services

 Improved Security

 Greater Scalability

 Cookie-less Sessions

 Easy Configuration and Deployment

ADO.NET

 ADO.NET is a worthy successor to ADO 2.6; it contains all the

features of its predecessor but with built-in support for XML.
 ADO.NET DataSets can cache an entire SQL database structure,
including relations and constraints along with data. You can store
DataSets at session or application level, reducing the load from the
database server.
 ADO.NET DataSets are one of the few complex objects that you can
pass to and from Web Services because they can be represented as
an XML file with an embedded XSD schema.

 Back End Tool (Ms SQL Server 2005 )

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is Microsoft’s new release of its relational

database management system. It has been highly anticipated since SQL Server
2000 and is well worth the wait. Officially released in November of 2005, it is
focused on making it easier to create, deploy, and manage enterprise database
systems and applications, while increasing scalability, availability, performance,
reliability, security, and programmability. SQL Server 2005 is a major new release
with many major and minor product changes from earlier editions

There are numerous enhancements for developers and programmers that

will not be covered in this book but are referenced here. These include the ability
to program database objects—including triggers, functions, stored procedures,
user-defined data types, and user-defined aggregates—in .NET languages, such as
Microsoft Visual C# and Visual Basic .NET. The use of .NET languages supports
programming with more features and more complex logic than with the Transact-
SQL language.

The T-SQL language has been extended with several new features and
enhancements as well, such as recursive queries and a new xml data type. In
addition, the TOP operator now accepts a numeric expression, such as a variable
name instead of only an integer, to specify the number of rows to return, and it
can be used in INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements and SELECT queries.

FEASIBILITY STUDY

Feasibility study is test of a system proposal according to its workability,

impact on the organization, ability to meet user needs and effective use of
resources. All the projects are feasible given unlimited resources and infinite
time! Ergo, feasibility study means an evaluation of benefits versus costs
incurred in developing project, where cost includes manpower, time, resources
and money.

A purpose of feasibility study is to check out the possibility of a

computerized solution to the organization’s observed problem before very much
money that has been spent on.

A feasibility study is carried out to select the best system that meets
performance requirements. Only by spending the time to evaluate the feasibility
do I reduce the chances for extreme embarrassment at later stage of the system
project.

Each of the feasible area was then abstracted into proposed modules for
“BI and DW REPORTING”. For the complete feasibility study I need to concentrate
on following area:

PREPARED BY ;- Juber Dal & Mohin Makwana Page 22

HOTEL MANAGEMENT

Economic Feasibility:-
Among the most important information contained in feasibility study is the
cost-benefit analysis. That is, an assessment of economic justification for
computer-based system. Cost-benefit analysis delineates cost for development
and weights them against tangible and intangible benefits in the system.

Technical Feasibility:-

Technical analysis evaluates technical merits of the system at the same time
collecting additional information about performance, reliability, maintainability
and productivity. In some cases, this system analysis step also includes a limited
amount of research and design.

Operational Feasibility:
Operational feasibility measures how well the solution will work in the
organization and how will end-user & management feels about the system.
Proposed system is helpful for all the users associated with the organization. It
will allow the administrator to have up-to-date information regarding all the
aspects of their users. The decision-making process will also become faster with
the use of data integration, consolidation. So it is feasible to implement the
system.
