NEW FILE OVERVIEW

Choose File→New, then select a template to create a new product file.

 Standard, out of the box templates are available for modeling, drawing, and
simulation product data. However, you or your system administrator can create
customized templates based on the requirements at your site.
 Each template refers to a .prt, .fem, or .sim file, that contains specific file settings
such as color settings or layer categories, and objects such as drawing borders.

 You can optionally provide additional details, such as the new file name and
location (in native NX) and attributes and item details (in Teamcenter
Integration).

 If you wish to create a part file using pre-NX 4 methods use the blank template.
This option creates a product file that is not associated with any template or
application. This is the only template that will inherit all it's properties from
Customer Default settings.

Note:

Blank templates are only available if Show Blank Templates is selected on the
File→Utilities→Customer Defaults→Gateway→General→File New tab. Note
that access to blank templates can be controlled by your System Administrator,
regardless of this customer default.
 Custom templates can be created and added to the File New tabs. See How to add
a custom template to a .pax file for more information.

When you create a new part file with a template, any of the following may happen:

 The new file inherits the settings of the template.

 The new file has copies of any objects contained in the template part.

 NX starts the appropriate application for you.

 An appropriate dialog box opens. For example, if you create an assembly part, the
Add Component dialog box may appear after you create the part.

If you are using Teamcenter Integration, you must install the templates into the
Teamcenter database in order to make them available in the Teamcenter Integration
version of the File New dialog box. See the Teamcenter Integration Help for more
information.

Where do I find it?

the dataset or item type you are creating, then you will have to define these mandatory
attributes before saving the part into the Teamcenter database. You can define the
attributesusing Format→Database Attributes→Assign. If the mandatory attributes have
