2 SLO THE ADMISSION EXAMINATION IN ENGLISH, MAY 2017

Dear Candidate,
The admission exam to our School consists of one written task. Read carefully the instructions and
the assessment criteria (they have been submitted in Polish).

Your task:
Choose one of the following statements and write an essay of 220-250 words. You should spend
about 40-45 minutes on this task.

1.
Some people enjoy change, and they look forward to new experiences. Others like their lives to stay
the same, and they do not change their usual habits. Compare these two approaches to life. Which
approach do you prefer? Explain why.

2.
Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific
reasons and examples to support your answer.

3.
People recognize a difference between children and adults. What events (experiences or ceremonies)
make a person adult? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.

4.
Many parts of the world are losing important natural resources, such as forests, animals , or clean
water. Chose one resource that is disappearing and explain why it needs to be saved. Use specific
reasons and examples to support your opinion.

Kryteria oceniania:
1. prawidłowo sformułowana teza i trafnie dobrane argumenty,
2. uwzględnienie i proporcjonalność części pracy (wstęp, rozwinięcie, zakończenie),
3. wyraźna myśl przewodnia,
4. zachowanie objętości pracy w granicach 220-250 słów, wyróżnianie paragrafów,
5. urozmaicone słownictwo i struktury zdaniowe,
6. poprawność językowa (gramatyczna, ortograficzna i interpunkcyjna).
