Beyond Heroism

It was at an early age when the dream of becoming a superhero has entered
the door of my young imagination. Like every child fascinated by super heroes, I
used to play all day running around our village looking for people who is in need of
help like super heroes do. This dream of mine took full expression when I entered
the world of sports and martial arts. The spirit of heroism has fueled my burning
desire to compete and accomplish almost impossible feats. As an athlete rigorous
training and discipline has earned me fame and recognition.

As years passed by and when adulthood took over. My super hero dream
was gradually destroyed by the hard realities of life. My idealism was soon over
taken by family responsibilities in providing the necessities of life. At some point, I
was ready to accept that life is about working 8 to 5, maintaining a stable job with
benefits and waiting for retirement that a super hero life does not exist in real life.

I have enjoyed working, living a normal life for years, but something inside
me is always searching, perhaps the call of a childhood dream… the void just keeps
growing day by day so I decided to quit my job and start a journey to the unknown.

I took the courage and started a small business in town, endured all the lows
and highs of being an entrepreneur and would soon reap the fruits of hard work
and perseverance. I would say that the business was successful as it is about serving
the society and is in lined with my childhood dream.

Heroism, the idea that I have long cherished has been renewed and believing
that becoming a lawyer would embody the spirit of heroism. I have enrolled in Law
School.

As a first year Law student, I was amazed and was left in awe about the
beauty of Law, however I also realized that pursuing this dream of becoming a
lawyer is far from easy. Sleepless nights, lack of time and failing grades are just
some of the experiences that one’s needs to overcome. As one of my professor
once told us “Disappointments and Failures in Law school are your stairway to pass
the Bar” and as stated in the movie Spiderman “With Great powers Comes Great
Responsibility.” Maybe after passing the bar it will all be worth the sacrifices.

We have learned in legal ethics about the ideal characteristics and goals of a
Lawyer i.e. the administration of Justice, to give everyone his due, defending the
truth and doing what is right, are some of the lines that reiterates the idealism that
I have lived for.

Today, I am forever grateful for all the professors and teachers who are
selflessly dedicated in imparting their knowledge, skills, and wisdom in order to
shed light and dispel the darkness of ignorance that ensures a bright future for the
next generation, for me their existence and example is Beyond Heroism.
