Learning Competencies/Objectives:
At the end of the cycle, the students should be able to identify activities that
causes ailments and diseases in the respiratory and circulatory system.
ELICIT (5 mins) MATERIALS
Let the students identify the following Powerpoint presentation, images
words and describe each word.

ENGAGE (15 mins) Video Presentation
Play a video presentation.(Healthy vs.
unhealthy life-you tube

Then, let the students answer the
following question:
1. What idea is different in the video
presentation?
2. How can these activities affect
the respiratory system?
Circulatory System?
EXPLORE (35 mins) Paper and pen, Grade 9 LM
1. Do Activity entitled “Prevention is
better than cure” in the LM page 21.
2. Create a story that illustrates
various activities that causes
ailments and diseases that affect the
respiratory and circulatory system.
The student must also show the
importance of keeping our bodies
healthy and free from illnesses.

EXPLAIN (35 mins) Output


Present the story that they made in front
of the class by means of role –playing.

ELABORATE (10 mins) Powerpoint presentation


The best way to prevent diseases in the
Respiratory and Circulatory system is to
have a healthy lifestyle, which includes
balanced diet, regular exercise,
adequate rest, proper hygiene, and
avoiding vices such as cigarette
smoking and alcohol drinking.
Respiratory and Circulatory disease can
easily be detected with regular health
check-up and physical screening.
EVALUATE (20 mins) Powerpoint presentation
Ask the students the following
questions:
 Explain how cigarette smoking
alcohol drinking and illegal drugs
affects the functioning of the
respiratory and circulatory
system.

EXTEND PowerPoint Presentation


Cut out different examples of activities
that affect the respiratory and circulatory
system from old magazines or
newspapers, and create a collage out of
the cut outs in the illustration board.
