COMMON ISSUE OF PHILIPPINE POVERTY

1. Corruption - Corrupt government officials from top officials all the way to the
bottom is still rampant. This may hard to get rid because it’s been a norm for a
long time but until there’s corruption, poverty in the country will be hard to
resolve.
2. Education - this is the best Sword a Person can use out of Poverty but sadly
attaining a degree in the Philippines became harder because of the
implementation of K to 12. Scholarship program by the Government must also be
improved and given specially to the poor. Vocational Courses can help under
privileged student to have a job here or abroad.
3. Agriculture - Philippines is still an Agriculture Country but it’s already degrading as
the year goes by. The average age of farmers in the Philippines is 57 years old so
this means less and less of Filipinos wanted to become a Farmer because they are
getting little or no money out of the hardship of becoming one. The Philippines is
one of the top rice importers in the world despite the fact that we are already
Agriculture country.
4. Low to moderate economic growth for the past 40 years;
5. low growth elasticity of poverty reduction;
6. weakness in employment generation and the quality of jobs generated;
7. failure to fully develop the agriculture sector;
8. high inflation during crisis periods;
9. high levels of population growth;
10. high and persistent levels of inequality (incomes and assets), which dampen
the positive impacts of economic expansion; and
11. Recurrent shocks and exposure to risks such as economic crisis, conflicts,
natural disasters, and "environmental poverty."
