Sub Plans for Jacob Monzingo April 22, 2019

Thanks so much for subbing for me!

In the event of a fire drill, please take the attendance sheets located by the door. Once
outside, you will need to take attendance again. My class silently exits out of the south
doors of the building and goes to the grassy area beyond the arch and groups
together. If you are missing students, write their name(s) on the yellow paper and send
it with a runner to the front of the building. If everyone is there, circle “all present.”
Remind the runner to stay to the perimeter of campus away from the building and not to
run through the staff parking lot. Tornado drill/sirens: Move your kids to the 7 grade th

hallway and have kids sit silently along the walls with their backs to the
lockers. Lockdown: Close all blinds, shut the door & put down the white cover. If it’s a
shelter in place, have the kids sit silently on the floor up by the back of the classroom.

Bathroom Passes: Only one student out at a time, please. Adrianna O (4th period) can
only be out for 2 minutes at a time for restroom only, but preferably not at all.

There should be a bell schedule in the sub folder you received from the office. If not,
please ask Nadene Kelly, the office manager, for one and leave it in the folder for future
use.

We use a Redirect system. The redirect system is for students who are struggling with
attending skills and the 6 P’s. 3 REDIRECTS: 1 & 2) How are your attending skills?
Can you fix it?? 3) Hall Conference and completion of a problem- solving sheet.
***If behavior is not corrected after the hall conference then an office referral will be issued.

The 6 P’s of behavior:

Prompt Positive Mental Attitude Participate
Prepared Produce Polite

Attending skills:
Being in the moment Appropriate body language Appropriate eye contact
Appropriate feedback Questions to clarify

Students have assigned seats. Please don’t let them choose to sit wherever they want. I
have attached the newest seating chart. They got new seats before break. I will try to
update my seating charts. Also, I do not allow students to work in the hall. They need to
do the assigned work for the day in class. They only time they can go in the hall to work
is if a teacher pulls them to do small group work.

Schedule:

Testing you will need to check in with Mrs. Kelly in the front office as well as Mrs. Bradshaw to
get materials and set up. The kids have been testing for the last few days so they know our
expectations which include: Only one person leaving at a time, one person to a table, read or sit
silently when they are finished for the entire testing time.

Advisory: This will be the same group of kids as you had for testing with the addition of a few
others. I have been trying to give them a bit of a break during this time because of testing. We
have been switching things up with games like heads up seven up or free create time.
Free/create time means they have the choice of reading, free writing or drawing. However, this
isn’t just sit and talk with friends time, they have to actually be working on something.

1st period: Plan, check in with the front office.

2nd, 3rd, and 4th Period: All of these English classes will be preparing for poetry cafe tomorrow,
Tuesday. For these shortened classes they will be finding or writing a poem of their choice that
they will read out in the media center tomorrow. Once they have found a poem they want to
perform they MUST get it approved by you or the PERA professional in the room. These poems
have to be school appropriate to be read allowed in front of others. After they have been
approved, they can then print them. Because of the short class period they have to work silently
in order to focus on finding the right poem for them.
Please remind them in order to receive a 3 on this summative grade they have to find or write a
poem of their own by the end of class and have it approved. If they do not get one approved
they have to read one from a pre-approved list for a grade of 2.

Mini Teen Living: As students come into class they should already be getting into their sewing
groups and getting their supplies from the cabinet in the back of the classroom. Once class
begins hand out sewing needles which are found in the desk just to the left of the desktop
computer. After they all have one start out tutorial on messy knots. A link to the video and wiki-
how are posted below.

With about 5 minutes left of class they need to clean up and put the classroom back in order. No
one is allowed to leave until all supplies are put away and tables are put back in rows. They are
also not allowed to stand next to the door before the bell rings.

Prior to students being dismissed at the end of class, please check that all laptops are in
the laptop cart, as students are not allowed to take them home and they need to be
charged and ready to go for classwork tomorrow. If a student’s is missing, please ask
them about where it is and have them plug it in right away.

Please leave names of students whose behavior is unsatisfactory or names of students

who demonstrate leadership in class.

If you have any questions or concerns call or text me at 970-556-5853

Thanks again!
