WHAT ARE SOME IMPORTANT QUALITIES OF A GOOD BOSS?

One of the keys to achieving high revenues in an enterprise is having excellent bosses. Not anyone
is cut out to be a excellent boss, very special qualities are need to become one. In this essay I will
describe that caring about the employee as a person, seeking to make work fun and striving to
reward good performance of employees are good qualities of an excellent boss.

First, an excellent boss cares about the employee as a person. Employees feel valued when the boss
shows an interest in their hobbies, family or other interests; not to mention the increase in
motivation that comes from caring about each other’s families. For example, just asking the
employees about their children can light them up. On the other hand, a boss that’s well-known
about each employees’ personal motivations, can help them achieve best results in their work. For
instance, knowing the academic preferences of an employee, can help his or her boss to put them
in the most suitable position.

Second, an excellent boss seeks to make work fun. Incorporating fun at work has proven to boost
the team’s performance and affiliation feelings towards the enterprise. For example, a worker who
is both having fun and performing well, is less prone to get laid or change to another enterprise.
Moreover, having fun at works is a great team-building exercise. For instance, a team that is having
trouble achieving certain goal can wash out arguments between coworkers through a good moment
of fun.

Third, an excellent boss rewards good performance, this is also considered one of the most effective
ways to retain human talent. Employees go to work with the intention of doing a good job and
should be rewarded for meeting and exceeding job requirements. For instance, an employee should
be rewarded if he has surpassed the standard performance of the department. It has been tested
in experiments, that a employee whose goals to achieve and rewards have been clarified, tends to
perform better than those whose goals to achieve are unclear. For example, if an employee doesn’t
know how much work is needed, he will tend do less work than others.

In this essay I have described what makes an excellent boss, that is to care about the employee as a
person, to seek to make work fun, and strive to reward a good performance. In my opinion, just
caring about the enterprise objectives, alongside the individual objectives of employees, leads to an
excellent bossing.
