WHY BRANDED AND NOT GENERIC???

GENERIC MEDICINE

Definition : a pharmaceutical product without a license from the innovator product,that is manufactured
after the expiring date of the patent – WHO

Pros :

- Cheaper for patients and healthcare systems


- Increase access to healthcare
- Affordable

Cons :
- The quality is varies in many developing countries

BRANDED MEDICINE

Definition : Medicines which have a name given to them by a company for the purpose of advertising

Pros :

- More well known than generic one


- The quality is same in every box of medicine

Cons :
- Expensive

CONCLUSION

- Generic drugs are safe as branded ones and as effective as branded ones - FDA
Because active ingredients in generic and branded medicine must be the same ensuring both of
them have the same medicinal effect.
