Did you enjoy the activity class?

Yes, ma’am.
D. LESSON PROPER
1.) Presentation
What have you noticed in your activity a
while ago?
Ma’am, we used verbs in those sentences.
Okay, have you noticed that the two sentences
have an object and the other two have no
object? Yes, ma’am.

Very good.
Who can you guess our topic for today?
Today we will be dealing with verbs.
Yes, Dorothy?

Ma’am, our topic for today is transitive and

intransitive verbs.
Very good.
Are you now ready for our discussion?
Yes, ma’am.

2.) Discussion
Now we will be discussing another kind of
verbs: Transitive and Intransitive verbs.
Who can define transitive verbs?
Yes, Daphnie? Ma’am, transitive verb requires an object: a
noun or pronoun that refers to the person or
thing that is affected by the action of the verb.
Exactly. Transitive verb is one that is used
with an object: a noun, pronoun or phrase that
refers to the person or thing that is affected by
the action of the verb.
For example, The professor wrote the book.
The word wrote there is the transitive verb we
used in the sentence and the word book is the
object that is being affected by the action of
the verb wrote.
Who can give another example of sentence
using transitive verb?
(student raised their hands)
Yes, John Paul?
“I read the story.” In this example “read” is
the verb and followed by “the story” as the
object.

Very good, John Paul.

How about intransitive? What is intransitive,
class? Ma’am, intransitive verb are verbs which
requires no object.
Very good, class.
Intransitive verb does not have an object.
Meaning even though the sentence does not
have an object, the thought of the sentence is
still complete.

For example, The baby is crying.

The verb we used there are is crying and the
sentence doesn’t have an object.

Now, who can give another example of

sentence of intransitive verb?
Yes, Jenny.

Very good.
Who else can give another example? “He jumped.” In my example ma’am, the verb
Yes, Angelica? does not follow an object.

Very good. Ma’am, “The building collapse”. In my

So is supposed you already understand the example ma’am, the verb does not follow an
transitive and intransitive verb. object.

3.) Application
Let’s have another activity. I will choose four
students to write two sentences of transitive
verb and another two sentences of intransitive
verb.

(the teacher chooses four students to write

to a person or a thing that is affected by the
action of the verb.
