A. PRELIMINARIES

Before you take your seats, align your chairs
properly and please pick up the scattered
pieces of paper, candy wrappers and any other
unnecessary things around you.
(After aligning their chairs and tidying up
their surroundings, the students take their

Today we will be dealing with verbs.

2.) Discussion
Now we will be discussing another kind of
verbs: Transitive and Intransitive verbs.
Who can define transitive verbs?
Yes, Daphnie? Ma’am, transitive verb requires an object: a
noun or pronoun that refers to the person or
thing that is affected by the action of the verb.
Exactly. Transitive verb is one that is used
with an object: a noun, pronoun or phrase that
refers to the person or thing that is affected by
the action of the verb.
For example, The professor wrote the book.
The word wrote there is the transitive verb we
used in the sentence and the word book is the
object that is being affected by the action of
the verb wrote.
Who can give another example of sentence
using transitive verb?
(student raised their hands)

“I read the story.” In this example “read” is
the verb and followed by “the story” as the
object.

Who else can give another example? “He jumped.” In my example ma’am, the verb
Yes, Angelica? does not follow an object.

Let’s have another activity. I will choose four
students to write two sentences of transitive
verb and another two sentences of intransitive
verb.

Ma’am, transitive verb is the ones that
requires an object: noun or pronoun that refers
to a person or a thing that is affected by the
action of the verb.

How about the intransitive verb, class?
Ma’am, intransitive verb requires no object.
