Motivation Letter

To scholarship selection commute

In addition to all my documents provided, I would like to take this great opportunity to write a
motivation letter to clarify my main reason that drives me to study in one of Netherland
University (University of Twente) through the NFP-fellowship.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Geology from Arba Minch University, Ethiopia in
2011. Currently I have been worked as assistant lecturer at Haramaya University.
To study in the Netherland University would help me because I have been especially interested
in Applied Earth Sciences, specialization in Engineering Geology which has always fascinated
me. There is a huge scope of application in Ethiopia. In view of limited opportunities of study in
this field, I have been advised by my parents and teachers to make an effort to study this subject
further at a renowned foreign university
Other reasons that I would prefer to study at Netherland University is because of the excellent
quality of instructors as well as the performance of its graduates. I feel that with my dedication
to learn the language of Dutch, I assure you that I am open to broadening my horizons both
linguistically and culturally.
Dutch is a multicultural country. I can learn how to interact within different cultures to improve
my interpersonal skills. I also can build up a network that comprises friends from different
countries and areas.
In short, by choosing to study in Netherland University, I will benefit greatly from the
extraordinary experience for building up my professional career, and will help to build Ethiopia,
my motherland, into a well-developed country.
I am looking forward that my application can be assessed and approved at your earliest
convenience! Kind Regards
Mr. Abebe Debele
