5 Translation Methods
5 Translation Methods
I. Review:
What is the different approach in translation?
Reporter will ask two students to repeat what she/he have said.
II. Motivation:
The student will be divided into three groups. Each group will give a certain or a famous line
they know and they will translate it in Tagalog.
The first is the Source Language Text (SL) which emphasizes on the language being translated
from, the second one is the Target Language Text(TL) which emphasizes on the language being
translated to.
Word-for-word – translating one word at a time, you are rendering a text from one
language to another.
Literal Translation - Rendering of text from one language to another “word for word”
with or without conveying the sense of the original text.
Faithful Translation – It attempts to reproduce the precise contextual meaning. It
attempts to be completely faithful of the SL writer. The translator aims to convey the
author’s intention of the text faithfully a possible into another language.
Semantic Translation – It is the process of using semantic information to aid in the
translation of the data.
IV. Generalization
