HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY STATEMENT

STATEMENT OF INTENT

It is the policy of J D Wetherspoon p.l.c. (“the Company”), to comply with the spirit and
requirement of current legislation with regard to all aspects of health and safety at work.

In line with the legislative requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and
subsequent Regulations, the Company will do all that is reasonably practicable to promote a
healthy working environment and to prevent risk of injury to employees, customers and any
other persons who may be affected by operations taking place on the Company’s premises.

Every employee must co-operate with us in establishing and monitoring safe and healthy
working conditions to enable all statutory duties to be complied with. The successful
implementation of this policy requires total commitment at all levels from the Board Directors
through to Managers, Supervisors and employees. The requirement for the full co-operation
of all employees is emphasised within this Policy, as are their obligations and responsibilities
within the health and safety legal framework. Training, information and instruction will be
provided to support these requirements in all aspects of their work and this Health and
Safety Policy will form an integral part of the induction training programme and ongoing
training initiatives.

In contracting with other organisations, we will endeavour to ensure that they comply with
the relevant safety legislation and practice safe working procedures.

This Policy is part of the Company’s strategy for integrating the management of health and
safety into the day to day running of our business. We will ensure that health and safety is
managed effectively by identifying issues in advance which might go wrong and by creating
ways of working which stop possible accidents and protect health i.e. by carrying out Risk
Assessments. The Company’s approach to risk management is embodied in this Policy.

The Company will ensure that this policy is kept under review and amended as necessary, to
ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and good practice.
