1 Mission Statement
and Purpose
M i s s i o n S tat e m e n t
Do you have a mission statement? If not, you should! God wants us to plan our
steps and seek His guidance and wisdom to carry out the plan.

If God is not a part of your mission statement, you should question whether it is
complete. If not, God would not approve.

Your mission statement should describe your business and its purpose and define
mission how you plan to carry out God’s purposes.

Plan
A. Your corporate plans should also include God’s plans. Do they?

B. First of all, do you have a ministry plan? If not, why not? How are you
planning to recognize and implement the opportunities that God will

provide? How are you planning to share the fruits with others?

C. Sit down with your management team or advisors and develop a plan for
carrying out God’s purposes in your business.

D. Your ministry plan should be written in conjunction with and integrated

with your business plan. “A man’s heart

those objectives.

Proverbs 16:9
F. Involve employee participation and ministry ownership in your plan. Avoid a
top-down plan with employees excluded.

G. Allocate resources of people, time and money just as you would in the rest
of your business plan. Do you give God His tithing?

H. Have a plan for the disbursement of funds to honor God and His Kingdom.
Detail how you will allocate money designated for ministry and the purposes
and causes that you will support.

I. Integrate the ministry plan into the corporate budget. Define how and when
specific allocations will be made.

J. Your final ministry plan needs to be clearly written so that everyone in the
company has access to it and can fully understand your intentions. After
formulating it, present it for implementation.

“Two are better than one because they have a good return from
their labor. For if either one of them falls the one will lift up his
companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is no one to
lift him up. And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can
resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart!”

D. Pick people who will speak “truth in love”, not tell you what they think you
want to hear.

E. Advisors should be unencumbered and non-invested in your business to

assure an objective perspective. Choose those whom you trust in your
business and personal life.

F. Everyone involved must be committed to unfailing confidentiality of anything

that is discussed.

G. Each advisor must be willing to commit to the time and effort necessary to
properly serve you and your company.

H. Advisors must be committed to pray for you and the company.

I. Meetings should be held regularly at an off-site location or private place with
minimized distractions. You need to be disciplined to keep the scheduled
meetings and the advisors must be disciplined to regular attendance.

J. Be prepared to experience some trial and error as you and the advisors adjust
to a new process. It may even take several attempts to get the right group of
advisors who work well together.
