School shout-outs have increased in number in the past 20 years. Campus shootings are
violent acts that not only affect schools, but also teachers, students and the community as a
whole. It’s the duty of the government to put measures in place to protect schools and ensure
public safety.
Allowing college students and employees to carry concealed weapons in school poses a great
danger to the other individuals’ the American history, school shootings have resulted to over 70
deaths in the past two decades. Permitting hidden handguns on campuses increases crime. The
employees and students who don’t believe that guns can save them feel safe. These are the ones
who have the determination to stop concealed carry. This can be done through protests. Many
deaths may occur due to unnecessary shootings by the students as a result of minor
disagreements.
Carrying concealed handguns increases the chances of confrontation. When opposing the
aspect of allowing concealed weapons on campuses, it’s also prudent to look at other aspects it
brings about. In the face of a handgun, students and even employees are likely to face
confrontations.
Responsible citizens have the right to protect themselves against criminals. Supporters of
handguns on campuses say it is better to allow students and employees to carry arms. This is
based on the argument that carrying arms for self-defense is better than becoming a victim of
violence. Reports show that carriers of guns feel safe and more secure. This especially true when
students on campuses go out at night or to dangerous places. According to the National Opinion
Research Centre reported in 2001,59% of handgun carriers arm themselves because it makes
them feel safer.
However, there are other ways of protecting oneself against violence. Students can embark on
daytime outs to avoid the danger they get exposed to when they go out at night. Students on
campuses can also avoid dangerous places at night to curb any danger inherent therein.

community as a whole. Handguns will always be an issue surrounded by controversy. Campus
students are constantly being pulled in numerous directions, living their lives in an hectic
manner, coping with the stress of entering into adulthood. To allow them posses guns is very
irresponsible.Allowing them carry concealed guns is a poorly conceived idea and is a literal
death sentence.
