Handling of Lathe

Handling means preparation of Lathe, before work and for long time use respectively.
Lathe can be dangerous if not used properly.

 Read the owner's manual carefully.


 Make sure you understand instructions and are properly trained before
operating a lathe.

Storage of Lathe

 Simply wipe it all down (around the headstock there's a lot of old grease,
blackened from the belt dust) and then use a paintbrush to apply a light coat of
general-purpose grease or WD 40.
 Dismantle and clean all the moving parts, and relubricate with the products
recommended in the manual (or modern replacements).

Handling of drilling machine

Drilling machines are one of the most dangerous hand operated pieces of equipment
in the shop area.

 Read the owner's manual carefully before operation.


 Make sure you understand instructions and are properly trained before operating
a drilling machine.

Storage of drilling machine

 In the case of hand drilling machine preserve it in the box that comes for keeping
it. The drill bit should be kept safely in the screw- cap box.
 The dismantle component should be clean and wipe with help of lubrication
fluid or grease or linseed oil.

Handling of shaper machine

Shapers can be dangerous if not used properly.

 Make sure you understand instructions and are properly trained before
operating a shaper.
Storage of shaper machine

 Rust protection (prevention) oils are lubricants providing temporary protection


of metal parts from oxidation caused by moisture, oil contaminants and
chemically active atmosphere.
 Before starting your daily work, lubricate all manual lubrication points
according to the regulations. Poor lubrication results in premature wear.

Handling of rolling machine

Though it's not very dangerous but it should be handled carefully. Following points are
consider which are given below:

Storage of rolling machine

 Spray booth to coat the freshly cleaned steel material with a layer of water or
solvent-based primer to achieve a temporary corrosion protection
 Leave machine wipe with lubrication if we are going to not use machine for
long time.
