Early Life

Harc or John Harc Cortuna Villanueva was born on June 28, 2000 in Quezon City, Manila,
Philippines. He was the only son of Arnold O. Villanueva and Norma C. Villanueva. He has a younger
sister named April Faith C. Villanueva. The eldest among them was their ‘ate’ Ma. Teresa C.
Villanueva who died early at the age of 6 on May 21, 2005 due to Dengue Fever.

Harc lives a common early childhood life. Like other kids he used to play outside until
evening and return home to face the rage of his parents.

Education

His father is a messenger while his mother works as a private school teacher of elementary
students. Through the influence of Harc’s mother together with the personal desire of his father, at
the age of five (5), Harc started to attend/enter school. Even his mother serves as one of the faculty
members, he does not experience any special treatment. His mother raised him as a person walking
on an ethical road with the accompaniment of his father’s discipline.

In 4th Grade, Harc’s engagement into extracurricular and academic activities begun. He
graduated elementary with awards and honours. As time goes by, especially when his stepped at the
secondary level of education, his personal growth and development improves continuously due to
his involvement on different types of activities and organizations which empowers an individual
inside and outside school.

When he arrived at the stage of being a Senior High School student, Harc chose the
academic track Accountancy, Business and Management strand for him to finish the curriculum. He
always wanted to become a broadcaster or psychologist but because of the inconvenience of
Humanities and Social Science strand in their area, he selected business course. Due to his
remarkable performances in Quezon City Polytechnic University, where he took Senior High School,
Harc graduated prosperously with the greatest appreciations by most of the faculty members.

Currently, he is committed in creating his own memories and journey as a second year
college student of Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Due to the good result of his grade evaluation,
he was privileged to be one of the regular students.

Empowerment

During childhood, Harc was possessed of a large amount of a shyness and introversion. He
does not have any special skills or talents. He does not even know the role of himself in the society.

Because of mass poverty, Harc’s mother, Norma, registered him in a Non-Government

Organization the helps people with financial incapacities which also implement programs for the
empowerment of an individual especially children and youths. Unexpectedly, Harc was engaged in a
program which focuses on empowerment through musical theatre. The indefinable happiness that
he felt while participating on that program made him embrace the theatre industry. From nothing,
he’s studied hard how to act and sing even a bit and now, he is an official theatre actor until present.
That allows him to be more intimate on exploring things and learning. Harc also joined leadership-
related programs which really built up his entire personality. He learned how to voice out, lead, and
act as a real person. From an introvert one into theatre/leadership mentor and an advocate of
change.
