“USING GENETIC TESTING TO MAKE MEDICAL DECISIONS”

Today, genetic testing is revolutionizing the world of medicine because it can

help identify an inherited condition or risk of disease, and test results can help
you and your doctor interpret your health condition. But like all tests, sometimes
it's not the best way to find an inherited condition or risk of disease.

With regard to testing I agree because knowledge is power if used responsibly

and correctly, for example if we known what disease we have, we might have
taken precautions and have a better lifestyle. Let us take another example, if we
suffered from a degenerative disease, we could not have enjoyed life to the full,
but with the help of tests we will be able to know when the disease manifests in
the future.

There are certain aspects that I do not agree with regarding genetic testing,
because receiving the results can have an impact on your mental health whether
it is good or bad. That is to say, when you receive negative results we can get
sad and depressed affecting our whole work and social life environment, but you
must bear in mind that genetic tests are not entirely reliable. In addition, when
one receives the results, one can interpret them in a wrong way, so it is
recommended to interact with a medical specialist for a better interpretation.

In conclusion, genetic testing is revolutionizing the world of medicine and the

results of the tests can help us as we are healthy, but we must not trust one
hundred percent because there are factors to be taken into account and if we
choose to trust it is with the help of doctors who will give us a better
interpretation.
