Lesson Idea

Title: Kahoot!
Grade Level: 6-8
Content: Mathematics
Standard Addressed: MGSE7.NS.1 Apply and extend previous understandings of addition and
subtraction to add and subtract rational numbers; represent addition and subtraction on a horizontal or
vertical number line diagram

Amount of Time: 10 minutes

Technology Standard Addressed: 3- Knowledge Constructor
SAMR Level: Modification
Essential Question(s): How would the world be different with these different mathematicians?
What is the Fibonacci sequence? What other topics did these mathematicians study?
Learning Activity: The students will play the game Kahoot! against each other. The students will
gain knowledge about the history of Fibonacci and how he popularized the numerals we use
today. The students will also learn about the other mathematicians that were showed in the
game.
During the game the questions will be shown up on the projector and the students will
pick the best answer on their respective devices. After each question the game will keep track
who’s in the lead. After the game Kahoot will show the top 3 scorers and I will give the top 3
scorers extra bonus points on their next test.

• Introduction: I will present on screen the code needed for the students to get into the quiz
that I have prepared.
• Instruction/Activities: The question will be shown on screen with two-four answers the
students will pick the shape on their device that they think is the best answer for the
question.
• Final Product: Since the game Kahoot is designed to keep score the students will know
during the game who is in the lead and will show the top 3 with the most points.
• Evaluation or deliverable: The game Kahoot will show the top 3 scorers and I will give a
couple bonus points on the next test with the top 3 scorers.
Reflective Practice
I could’ve used a different student-response tool instead of Kahoot! The students could also be
broken into groups instead of competing individually.
