Youth Exchange “Active Youth for Europe” 

P​ROJECT​ D​ESCRIPTION 

The  project  was  created  with  the  aim  to  grow  active  European  Citizens  from  within. 
The  project  aims that young people can become comfortable and empowered enough 
to  take  an  active  role  as  part  of  European citizenship, and can create creative possible 
solutions  among  themselves  on  international  or  national  level  on  topics  which  are 
concerned.  New  experiences,  ideas  and  competences  will  give  us  a  chance  to  apply 
new practices in their communities.  
 
Objectives of the youth exchange: 
-opportunity to express and share thoughts on common topics concerning youth; 
-space  of sharing realities: experiences and good practices of challenges and obstacles 
youth face on an international level, as well to discuss possible solutions; 
-strengthen  knowledge  of  youth  on  the  topic  of  European  citizenship,  awareness  of 
European values and to stimulate its practice; 
-provide knowledge on different topics through non formal education; 
-increase  competences  like  creativity,  teamwork,  finding  solutions,  problem  solving as 
well  as  give  young  people  an  opportunity  to  work  in  a  diverse  environment  with 
people from other cultures and backgrounds; 
-share  the  goal  and  idea  of  Erasmus  +  Programme  and  to  encourage  the  participants 
to take part in its possibilities and activities 

D​ESCRIPTION​ ​OF​ ​THE​ Y​OUTH​ E​XCHANGE 

Youth  exchange  will  be  reflecting  the  principles  of  non-formal  learning  and  support 
the  active  involvement  of  the  participants  in  the  activity.  The  participants  will  be 
encouraged  to  share  feedback  on  proposed  programme  of  activities,  share  their 
expectations through application forms. During the activity itself active participation of 
the  participants  will  be  supported  by  implementation  various  activities  taking  into 
consideration  different  learning  styles  of  the  participants  and  their  learning  needs.  At 
the  start  of  the  youth  exchange  the  participants  will  take  part  in  getting  to  know each 
other  activities  as  name  games,  ice-breakers  and  team  builders.  During  the  project 
days  the participants will participate in activities that will be prepared and delivered by 
each national team. Besides presentations, discussions or debates the participants will 
also take part in simulations or theatre based activities.

motivated  to  take  part  in  youth  exchange  and  to  personally  interested  in  the 
topic of the project; 
motivated to implement the experience gained in the YE in their communities; 
motivated  to  build  and  support  international  partnerships  that  will  be  created 
during the YE for future Erasmus+ projects; 
   

Youth Exchange “Active Youth for Europe” 

18-25  years  old  who  didn’t  participate  in  more  than  3  Erasmus  +  projects,  who 
are  willing  to  spend  7  days  together  and  take  the  challenge  to  create 
unforgettable memories, and to participate in workshops in nature; 
people  who  are willing to learn more about other cultures by sharing rooms with 
3-5 other people from different countries; 
people  who  will  be  dedicated  during  the  activities,  willing  to  take  ​active 
participation and be part in creating the final project results 
 
NOTE  TO  PARTNERS:  Partners must send 4 participants with fewer opportunities 
per  country, clearly informing us who and what fewer opportunities they face so 
we  can  prepare  accordingly.  Also,  we  kindly  ask  our  partners  to  send  an  equal 
number  of  participants  from  both  genders  and  introduce  the  participants  with 
the project venue and conditions described in the info pack! 

W​ORKING​ M
​ ETHODS​: 

● Learning by doing method. 


● Ice-breakers and team building games to get to know each other. 
● Workshops will leave room for moderated but controversial discussions. 
● Simulation  games  will  allow  to  identify  current  challenges  of  non-formal 
education and show possible measures that strengthen them.  
● These  sessions  will  provide  the  participants  with  concrete  ideas  that  can  be 
implemented  in  their  local  communities,  thus  ensuring  an  important  multiplier 
effect.

Working language of the training course will be in English (​ Basic level is required)  

A​CCOMMODATION​ ​AND​ F​OOD 

Accommodation and food are 100% covered by the Erasmus+ programme. 


The  participants  will  be  lodged  in  the  Bockaberg  camp,  ​near  Floda​,  Sweden 
(​http://bockaberg.se/​).  Bockaberg  is an open-air facility located very beautifully at Lake 
Uspen,  about  5  kilometers  south  of  Floda  and  about  33  kilometers  from  Gothenburg. 
The facility is rented out to schools, associations, organizations and private individuals, 
primarily  with  a  focus  on  children  and  youth.  Bockaberg  is  surrounded  by  forest  and 
lake.

Important information about accommodation:


During  the  activity  participants  will  be  accommodated  in  a  room  with  3-6 
other people from different countries. 
Each  participant  will  have  a roommate from different country and ​we can’t 
make  exceptions  ​to  accommodate  people  from  the  same  country  in  the 
same room. The rooms will be gender divided.  
We can’t arrange separate rooms for couples or make additional changes in 
the room match. 
The  rooms  have  bunk  beds.  Mattress,  duvet  and  pillows  are  provided  (bed 
linen included). 
The bathrooms are shared. 
There  will  be  no  trip  arranged  to  Gothenburg, though in the program there 
is  one  day  for  group  work-meeting  with  locals,  so  you  will  have  a  choice  to 
go to Gothenburg or stay in Floda for the task.  
  There  might  be no wifi available in the rooms and activity room will have a 
forest quality one, so recommended to get a local SIM card if needed (check 
Comviq or Lycamobile while in Gothenburg). 
 
Food:​ T
​ here will be 3 meals per day provided, prepared by on spot cook. 
Participants  will  have  a  chance  to  help  with  food  preparation,  and  learn  more  about 
international  cuisine.  Each  participant  will  be  responsible  to  wash  their  dishes  and 
silverware after eating.

In  the  territory  of  the  whole  campsite  ​alcohol  and  drugs  are  strictly  forbidden! 
Smoking  is highly restricted and in case of urgency only permitted outside of the 
campsite area, in an invisible spot, where noone sees or is distrubed.  
Everyone  is  welcome  with  these  restrictions.  Violation  of  this  entitles  the 
caretaker  to  immediately  dismiss  the  person(s)  concerned.  No  refund  of  travel 
costs will be guaranteed in case of dismissal.

T​RAVEL​ ​ARRANGEMENTS 

ARRIVAL DAY IS 30th APRIL (landing 4pm latest).  


DEPARTURE DAY IS 8th MAY (boarding 12.30pm earliest).  
Find  your  tickets  soonest,  consult  with  your  sending  NGO  and  send  us  your 
tickets until ​1st March​ the latest (otherwise your spot might be given away :( 
 
1. First you should arrive to Gothenburg. 
There  are  many ways to reach Gothenburg. Please, be sustainable, love nature and try 
to  travel  mindfully  -  with no unneeded checked luggage, no stress for lost luggage and 
no trouble where to store the luggage. 
 
● Gothenburg  Airport​:  it  is  the  nearest  airport,  20  min  drive  from  the  city,  with 
many Wizzair and Ryanair flights.   
● Oslo,  Malmo,  Copenhagen  and  Stockholm  airports:  there  might  be  more 
economy  flights  from  your  country  to  the  aforementioned  airports.  If  arriving to 
these  airports,  you  will  have  to  take  a  Flixbus,  Nettbus  or  the  train  to 
Gothenburg Central Station. 
 
2. Second, you should reach Gothenburg Central Station: 
● as  mentioned  before,  from  other  airports  than  Gothenburg Landvetter you shall 
grab aforementioned buses to Gothenburg Central Station; 
● from  Gothenburg  Landvetter  airport,  you  shall  grab  Flixbus  (cheapest 
option - ​4.90 eur​, please buy in advance, together with your flight tickets).

Please  note  that only most economic travel and only public transport 


is ​subject ​to  reimbursement.  Taxi  is  not  covered.  Please  consult  us 
before buying! 

3. Third, 6pm you jump on our transfer bus to Bockaberg Camp: 

there  will  be  a  bus  booked  for  all  the  group  and  it  will  leave  at  ​6pm  from  nearby 
Central  Station.  ​There  is  no  other  way  to  reach  the  Venue​,  the  bus  will  not  wait, so 
make  sure  you  are  there  on  time.  Details  will  reach  you  via  FB  group  closer  to  the 
event.  Same  bus  will  leave you in Central Station on the 8th of May at 10am. There will 
be no other ways to travel and no individual transfers arranged.  

It  is  not  allowed  to  arrive  after  30th  April,  or  leave  earlier  than  8th  May  for  any 
reasons.  Please  keep  in  mind  when  booking  the  tickets.  For any other questions 
consult  with  the  group  leaders  form  sending  NGO.  ​You can arrive 2 days before or 
leave 2 days after the project end date.  

IMPORTANT:  ​Traveling  sometimes  requires  additional  day  for  catching  a  flight  and 
staying  for  an  additional  night  at  the  city,  where  airport  is  situated.  We  are  aware  of 
such situations, but organizers can’t cover this cost, it is participants' own cost. 
For  that  reason,  we  recommend  you  to  use  hostels  (​http://www.hostelworld.com/​)  or 
friends ​https://www.couchsurfing.org/​). 
 
REIMBURSEMENT:  ​We  need  you  to  buy  economy  class  tickets,  and  send  us  a  copy by 
email asap ​1st March​ latest, so our accountant prepares the reimbursement. 
We  advise  you  to  buy  your  tickets  ​as  soon  as  possible​,  so  that  it  fits  in  our  limited 
budget for 100% reimbursement. 
It  is  a  must  to  save  all  documents  (original  tickets,  boarding  passes,  invoices  or  bills 
with  the  ticket  price)  which  are  related  to  your  travel,  since  the  documentation 
background  is  obligatory  for  reimbursement.  Buy  all  the  tickets  for  the travel for both 
directions  –  return  tickets  (plane  tickets,  train tickets, bus tickets and etc.), because we 
will  be  able  to  reimburse  only  REAL  EXPENSES  (made  expenses).  IMPORTANT:  We 
cannot refund any travel costs done by taxi. 
 
After  sending  ​your  original  tickets  and  boarding  cards  via  post  (Positive YOUth, Julias 
gata  93,  lgh  1502,  Hisings Backa, Sweden), participants will receive the reimbursement 
of  their  travel  costs.  Travel  (flights,  other  means  of  transport)  expenses  are 
compensated  (up  to  100%),  based  on  the  actual  expenses  incurred  and  the  distance 
from  your  location  of  residence  to  the  location  of  the  project  –  Floda,  Sweden.  These 
distances  must  be  calculated  using the distance calculator supported by the European 
Commission.  ​We  will  send  money  to  your  sending  organization  and  sending

organization  will  pay  to  participants  in  duration  of  max  2-  months  after  the 
project ends. 

Please  note  if  you  buy  your  tickets  in  a  currency  other  than  EUR,  we  will  convert  to 
EUR  according  to  the  exchange  rates  from  the  official  European  Commission  website:

Participants  ​must  travel  from  the  country  of  the  sending  organization,  and  back. 
Following  the  guidelines  of  the  Erasmus  +  programme  the  travel  back  must  be 
realized by the participants within a maximum of 2 days.

W​HAT​ ​TO​ ​BRING​?

Sport clothes and sneakers suitable for outdoor workout/ sport activities.

person.

PC (at least one laptop per country) for our media workshop. 
Pills and medicines for personal use.  
Also,  we  insist  you  to  make  ​health  insurance​,  especially  the  participants  who 
aren’t  EU  citizens.  The  health  insurance  ​is  not  provided  and  will  not  be 
reimbursed  by  the  hosting  organization.  All  ​participants  must  bring  their  EU 
health  card  or  purchase  private  travel  insurance,  as  the  costs  of  private  health 
care in SWEDEN are very high if you don’t have.       
Positive attitude and energy :) 

P​REPARATIONS 

Intercultural  evening  ​–  ​Participants  are  expected  to  create  interesting, 


interactive  and  ​creative  intercultural evening. The intercultural evening gives you 
a  unique  opportunity  in  ​a  creative  way  to  promote  your  country  and  culture. 
Show us what you eat, what are your traditions, music, culture, stereotypes.  
Prepare your own workshop related to the topic (read and prepare well for it).  
NGO  Market  ​-  The  project  will  include  a  session  when you will have a possibility 
to  ​present  your  organizations,  share  good  practices  as  work  on  ideas  for  the 
future.  Thus,  we  would  like  to  ask  you  to  prepare  interactive  presentation  of 
your  organization.  Feel  free  to  bring  promotional  materials of your organization, 
videos etc. 
Morning/Afternoon  Energizers​:  We  would  be  really  happy  if  each  group 
prepare some energizers to increase the group energy. 
Take  your  ​laptops,  digital  cameras,  smartphones  and  tablets  –  we  will  be 
doing some multimedia work that requires mobile equipment! 

BASIC RULES 

All  the  participants  will  be  expected  to  ​be  present  and  active  in  all  the  activities​, 
unless  being  ill.  Unauthorized  absence  from  the  activities  and  workshops  won’t  be 
tolerated.  Stress,  nerves  and  bad  mood  is  prohibited  everywhere.  Bring  your  best 
mood  and  a  big  smile  with  you  and  keep  it  through  the  exchange!  Prepare  for  fun 
interactive workshops and intercultural unforgettable experience.

respectful,  be  positive,  break  the  borders,  participate  in  workshops,  have 
maximum fun, be cheerful and try to be part of the solution.

Every  team  leader  will  be  introduced  with  the  program  plan  1  month  before the 
activity  and  will  have  the  possibility  to  facilitate  several  workshops  during  the 
Youth  Exchange.  The  team  leaders  will  be  gathered  in  FB  group,  together  with 
the  main  project  coordinator  and  be  responsible  for  creating  the  program  and 
workshops. Successful YE is made by awesome leaders ​☺  
Each  team  leader  is  responsible  for  their  team  (to  be  on  time,  to  participate  in 
the  workshops  and  inform  the  project  team  for  their  needs).  Great  leader  is  a 
good team player and representative of a good group ☺ ​   
 
IMPORTANT!  ​We  reimburse  the  transport  money  ​ONLY  if  the  participant  will 
ACTIVELY  ​take  part  during  the  whole  project.  This  is  an  international  project  with 
non-formal  education  that  is  granted  from  European  funds.  ​Participants  should  be 
aware that they are not on holidays. 
Don't buy your travel tickets before getting our confirmation. 

M​ONEY​ ​EXCHANGE 

Sweden's  official  currency  is  Swedish  Krona.  There  are  several  exchange  offices  and 
ATM  machines  where  you  can  withdraw  money  in  Floda,  but  not  around  the  place  of 
the venue. Credit cards are accepted almost everywhere.
