Definitions

 Service: is the way of delivering value to customers to facilitate what the customer wants to
achieve. Service provider has services and service asset.
A customer is a person who needs resources of IT: network bandwidth, printer services,
internet services, monitoring services, logging services, security services, application
development, and product management, troubleshooting. How the customer interact with
the service provider communicate in sharing information to meet each other goals.
 Service management: is a set of specialized group of capable

Why does IT exists in an organization?

IT is there to support business in its activities generating profit or nonprofit- helping an
organization in meetings the goals: providing services and service asset

The AV field is an exciting industry combining a number of seemingly disparate technologies and
products to create systems that enhance communication. It attracts professionals from a wide range
of disciplines: architect, engineers, electricians,

AV system defined as all pieces of equipment integrated to fulfill the intent of communicating audio/
or video content to an audience. It is a set of specified, individual audio and video components
designed and configured to operate as one comprehensive system.

IT the study or use of systems (especially computers and telecommunications) for storing, retrieving
and sending information.

Infrastructure- the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities needed for the
operation of an organization.

ICT- any communicating device, application, or service related to radio, television, cellular
technology, computing, networking, satellite systems, including services such as videoconferencing
and distance learning.

AV Designer is a person or entity responsible for the design and documentation of the AV systems
and infrastructure associated with the AV systems. AV Designer helps to define the needs, establish
an appropriate budget, coordinate requirements with other designers and contractors, create a
schedule, and document the solutions.

AV Designer will fall into one of these categories:

AV Consultant: a firm or an individual who is responsible for the specification of the

required AV systems.
AV System integrator: a firm or individual who is responsible for the AV design as well as
the supply and installation of the equipment. This firm typically also provides software
development, system training, warranty coverage, managed services, and ongoing service
options.
Campus AV Staff: a group or individual on the campus technology staff may perform the
equipment installation, develop software, conduct user training, the group may also
document the systems. This group is responsible for ongoing system maintenance and
training users.

THE ESSENCE OF AV DESIGN AND INTEGRATION

AV design and integration combines four essential elements:

 The hardware, or the physical electronics that are connected together

 The software, or programs that are loaded into the electronics to perform various AV tasks
 The environment, or the space and infrastructure within which the hardware and software
work
 The content, which includes video, audio, and data material created and presented using the
software and hardware available.

Pro AV integration is the process whereby professional audiovisual systems and equipment are
designed, purchased and installed within a building project. Typical tasks include:

i. Project needs analysis

ii. System design engineering
iii. Equipment specification
iv. Equipment acquisition
v. Equipment installation
vi. Interface and control programming
vii. Testing
viii. Training
ix. Technical support

Overall project success is dependent on the physical environment in which the system is
installed, the greater integration process includes coordination with building architecture,
interior design, acoustics, lighting, structural, mechanical, electrical systems, both during design
and construction phases. The processes may include other systems such as security systems, life
safety systems, fire alarm systems, sound masking, computer and telecommunications

PRO-AV applications are in commercial, government, education, religious, and transportation

facilities and include installation in arenas, stadiums, and performing arts spaces, classrooms,
auditoria, boardrooms, command and control centers, courtrooms, museums, training rooms,
multimedia presentation rooms.

THE DEMAND FOR AV PROFESSIONALS
