HIGH-PERFORMANCE ANTIMICROBIAL TOUCH

SURFACE PRODUCTS
Hospital-acquired infection 

Hospital-acquired infections are recognised as a fundamental public health issue. Hospital-acquired infections account
for over 37000 deaths each year in EU. A number of reports also highlight the heavy financial burden they impose on
healthcare establishments and local authorities.

The antimicrobial properties of copper 

The key benefit of copper is that it is an unrivalled antimicrobial touch surface.

The antimicrobial efficiency of copper is higher than any other surface (plastic, stainless steel, aluminium, silver ion-
containing material…) available on the market today. Copper is the only antimicrobial contact surface to appear on the
US Environmental Protection Agency list (EPA).

The CU+ certification issued by the ICA (International Copper Associa-

tion) testifies that products are efficient in limiting the risk of infection
by the continuous eradication of microbes.

According to a US report (1), the use of copper equipment in an intensive care unit resulted in a 40% reduced risk of
contracting infection.
