Modals of deduction

We can use modal verbs to make a guess about the present. The verb is often 'be'.

• She must be at home. (= 90% yes)

• He might be on the bus. (= 50%)

• They could be in the library. (= 50%)

• She can't be still in bed! (= 90% no)

In this situation, we don't use 'mustn't' or 'can'. 'Can't' is the opposite of 'must'.

Let's review! Make sentences using 'must' or 'can't'. You need to drop ‘I’m sure’.
