Transitional Language Acquisition: Difficulties in Learning Chinese among Non-Chinese School

Transferees

Objectives:

To determine the difficulties of Non-Chinese School Transferees in learning Chinese

The study aims to find out what component in learning Chinese is difficult among Non-Chinese School
Transferees

Where it can be used? :

This study can be used in Filipino-Chinese Schools such that many transferees are coming from Non-
Chinese Schools

Who will benefit from this study? :

The study will be of great benefit to Non-Chinese School Transferees as the study will help Non-Chinese
School Transferees to learn Chinese easier. The study will also be of great benefit to Chinese teacher as
the study will help develop the Chinese teachers’ teaching and change their way of teaching to a more
effective way for Non-Chinese School Transferees

Why should we use it? :

Based on David Moser from the University of Michigan Center for Chinese Studies, Chinese is hard
compared to almost any other language so as for the Non-Chinese School Transferees, they would fing
Chinese difficult for it would be their first time encountering it

How possible is your study? :

This study is possible because Filipino-Chinese Schools have scholars mostly coming from Non-Chinese
Schools

How can this study benefit the society? :

This study can only benefit the school as this study focuses on students and teachers
