‘STAHL-EISEN-Lieferbedingungen (SEL) des Vereins Deutscher Eisenhiittenleute February 1998 (December 1977) 1 Scope ‘These delivery specifications apply to heavy plate that hhas been ultrasonically tested for internal material disconti- ‘uities, e.g laminations and coarse inclusions. 2 Definition Heavy plate is defined as ultrasonically tested in accord- ance with these delivery specifications itis guaranteed to. bbe free of material discontinuities to certain extant (see Section 4 hereof) following an ultrasonic test carried out by the producer (see Section 5 hereof). Adistinction shall bbe made between ultrasonic surface testing, ultrasonic border zone testing and full ultrasonic testing 3 Classes 3.4 Uttrasonically tested heavy plate under these de- livery specifications shall be classified in accordance with Tables 1 and2 but independently of the test method. ‘able 1 shows the surface test classes and Table 2 the border zone test classes. 3.2. The classes per Table 1 or Table 2 shall be selee- ted by the purchaser. The purchaser shall observe the stip- lations of the applicable codes or recommendations (see Sections 4.2.1, 4.3.1 and 4.4.1 hereon. itshallbe stat- ed in the order that the present delivery specifications ‘must be complied within addltion to the quality require- ments applicable to the steel grade concerned. I'shall be stated whether the plates to be delivered Lltrasonically surface tested in accordance with one of the classes of Table 1 (see Section 4.2 hereof or ultrasonically border zone tested in accordance with one ofthe classes of Table 2 (see Section 4.3 hereof) or {uly uitasonically tested in accordance with one of the Classes of Table 1 and 2 (see Section 4.4 hereof lino classis expressly stated in the order, class 3 shallbe deemed agreed in each case. hts reserved, No part of this sheet may be reprex uced by any means. 4 Requirements 44 In accordance with Table 3, the requirements to ‘be met by ultrasonically tested heavy plate shall depend ‘on whether the plate is to be US surface tested, US bor- der zone tested or fully US tested (see Section 3.2 here- of. 444 Asurface test shallbe testing ofthe plate surface without special consideration of the border zone areas, 44.2 Ina border zone test the border zones shall only be tested. 44.8 _ Aull test shall comprise testing ofthe plate sur- face and testing of the border zones. 4.2 Uttrasonically surface tested heavy plate shall mest the requirements of Table 1, depending on the class agreed, 424 Any of the classes of Table 1 may be agreed for the delivery In the usual case in which no special adapta- tion to the application ofthe plate is necessary the ultra- Ultrasonically tested heavy plate Technical delivery specifications SEL 072 Ast Edition sonically surface tested plate covered by these delivery specifications shall meet the requirements of class 3 of Tablet 4.3 Uttrasonically border zone tested heavy plate shall moet the requirements of Table 2, depending on the class agreed. 4.31 Any of the classes of Table 2 may be agreed for the delivery In the usual case in which no special adapta- tion to the application ofthe plate is necessary the ultra- sonically border zone tested plate covered by these deli ery specifications shall meet the requirements of Class 3 of fable2 4.4 _ Fully ultrasonically tested heavy plate shall mest the requirements indicated in Table 1 and 2 for the class ‘which may have been agreed. He shall also be free to choose the (heat) treated Condition forthe tests unless anything elses specifiedin Technical rules (e.g. AD Bulletin). necessary, the tests scope can be agreed in the order with the class demanded duly taken into consideration. ‘Normally, testing using a grid of for instance 20 cm side length or using a system of straight test lines which run Parallel with one another for instance at a distance of 10 com or using a system of sinusoidal test lines whose oscil- lation width and half oscillation wave length are each for ‘example 20 cmis appropriate in the case of surface test- ing. An area of a width equal to the plate thickness or at least 2.5 cm as measured from the cut edges shailbe cov~ ‘ered in the case of border zone testing, 5.2 _Thepresence of the purchaser orthe purchaser's ‘agent during the test at the producer's works shall require agreement in the order. Steps ensuring that the flow of production will nt be impeded shall be agreed for this purpose. 5.3 The specifications laid down in the Supplement shall be followed for arbitration testcases. An arbitration test case within the meaning of these dalivery spec- ifications shall exist inthe case of disputes between the ‘producer and the consumer or the consumer's agent in the evaluation of the size and/or frequency of discontinui- ties found, See Euronorm 160. eee LES aa | 40103 | ‘© Verlag Stahieisen mbH, P.O.
