PART-B (Answer all Questions) 2 x 15 = 30 Marks
CO3 C 11.A Design a cam for operating the exhast valve of an oil engine. It is required to 15
give uniform acceleration and retardation motion during opening and closing
of the valve each of which corresponds to 60 0 of cam rotation. The valve
remains in fully opened position for 200 of cam. The lift of the valve is 37.5
mm and leat radius of the cam is 40 mm. The follower is provided with a roller
of radius 10mm and line of stroke passess through the axis of cam.
(OR)
CO3 C 11.B. Draw the cam profile for following data. 15
Base circle radius of cam 40mm, lift 40mm, angle of ascent with SHM for
90o, angle od dwell 30o, angle of descent with uniform velocity 60o and
dwell for remaing period. Speed of cam 300 rpm. Take a knife edge
follower by 10 mm off set from the center of base circle.
Also calculate the maximum velocity and maximum acceleration during
outstroke and return stroke.
