WORD DEFINITION

BATTERY
A battery is a device consisting of one or
more electrochemical cells with external
connections provided to power electrical
devices such as flashlights, mobile phones,
and electric cars.

CAPACITOR

A capacitor is a device that stores electrical

energy in an electric field. It is a passive
electronic component with two terminals.

DEMODULATION

Demodulation is extracting the original

information-bearing signal from a carrier
wave.

DIODE
A diode is a two-terminal electronic
component that conducts current primarily
in one direction (asymmetric conductance);
it has low (ideally zero) resistance in one
direction, and high (ideally infinite)
resistance in the other.
INDUCTOR
An inductor, also called a coil, choke, or
reactor, is a passive two-terminal electrical
component that stores energy in a
magnetic field when electric current flows
through it.

MODULATION
In electronics and telecommunications,
modulation is the process of varying one or
more properties of a periodic waveform,
called the carrier signal, with a modulating
signal that typically contains information to
be transmitted.

RESISTOR
Resistors are used to reduce current flow,
adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias
active elements, and terminate
transmission lines, among other uses.

TRANSDUCER A transducer is a device that converts

energy from one form to another. Usually a
transducer converts a signal in one form of
energy to a signal in another.
TRANSISTOR A transistor is a semiconductor device used
to amplify or switch electronic signals and
electrical power. It is composed of
semiconductor material usually with at least
three terminals for connection to an
external circuit. A voltage or current applied
to one pair of the transistor's terminals
controls the current through another pair of
terminals.
