having the same animal.
○ Spread the group across a field, court, classroom, etc.
○ No one is allowed to tell another which animal he is. At the signal each person
makes the noise of the animal that he has been given.
○ The first group to find all of their animals and sit down are the winners.

● Bees and Butterflies

○ 1. Give 2 people the stingers (pool noodles) and these people are the bees.
○ 2. All the other people are the butterflies.
○ 3. The bees must go around stinging the butterflies (hitting them on the legs with
the soft objects).
○ 4. A butterfly that has been stung must stop where it is and freeze.
○ 5. For a butterfly to heal, 2 untagged butterflies must link arms around the injured
butterfly and escort them to a designated area in the middle where the bees
cannot go. The injured butterfly will count out loud to 5 and then can get back into
the game.
○ 6. The game ends when all the butterflies are stung or when it gets boring.
○ A few things to note:Butterflies that are escorting another butterfly cannot be
tagged. No butterfly can hide out in the safe area.
● Cat and mouse/ Sharks and Minnows
○ Parachute
○ Cat/shark under parachute
○ Everyones legs under the parachute sitting
○ Shake the parachute
○ Cat goes around under parachute, once tagged you are now a cat as well
● Subnivean Space!
○ Parachute and a bunch of balls or poker chips to collect
○ Subnivean means under the snow -- this is where mice travel and hide out during
the winter
○ 3-4 mice hang out under the parachute and try to dart out to collect “food”
○ 1-2 foxes stay on the outside of the parachute and try to tag the mice as they
come out to gather food
● The three bears
○ Three people put hands on each others back to form a conga line in the center of
a circle of the rest of the group
■ Front: big bear can use arms and legs
■ Middle: little bear can only use legs
■ Back: baby bear cannot defend themselves
○ The rest of the group is trying to tag the baby bear with a dodgeball in a circle
○ Once the baby bear is tagged, it moves up to be the little bear, the little bear is
moved up to be the big bear and a new baby bear is chosen
● Bat & Moth
○ Same idea as “Marco Polo”
○ The bat wears a bandana and says “bat,” the moth can see, and always has to
reply “moth” to the bat.
○ The rest of the group forms a circle and spots the bat and moth while they play a
game of tag. If the bat gets too close to the trees, they can whisper “tree” to warn
them they are at the edge of the circle
○ Play for about 30 seconds a pair. If the bat tags the moth, they win, if the moth is
never tagged, they win.
● Rabbits & Coyotes
○ Two-person tag game, everybody can play at once in partners if they spread out
○ Partners decide who is the rabbit and who is the coyote. It’s a short game, so
they will be able to trade off a few times in each role.
○ Partners stand back-to-back and pace away from each other (3-10 paces is
good, the closer they start the faster the game, and the easier it is for the coyote)
○ The rabbit remains facing away from the coyote, who attempts to sneak up and
tag the rabbit without being heard.
○ If the rabbit hears the coyote moving toward them, they say “Coyote, I hear you!”
and the coyote takes one step back away from the rabbit.
○ The coyote attempts to tag the rabbit without being heard, or before the rabbit
can speak.
○ Trade places and play a few rounds--try getting further away, or standing on
more challenging surfaces (i.e. in the woods, on gravel, etc.)
