MPAS533 Professional Development II – Environmental Health Group Assignment

Instructions:
Each group will research their assigned environmental toxin and present a case to the class. Your group and assigned
toxin is posted on Blackboard. Your group presentation should be no more than 10 minutes.

Step 1:
The first part of your case should be a “mock patient” presenting with symptoms associated with your toxin. This should
include chief complaint, HPI, ROS and Physical Exam with pertinent findings. Also included in your case should be a
differential diagnosis and workup/plan. You can present your patient using SOAP format or a power point presentation.

Please refer to this guide for eliciting a patient history regarding environmental health hazards and include this
history in your presentation

Step 2:
At the end of your presentation you must include the following:
 Summary explanation of your patient’s presentation and symptoms/risk factors
 Sample/List of where your environmental toxin is found
 Common signs and symptoms associated with toxicity from your toxin
 Patient education material/facts
