SMART 2A –DEEPENING THE UCU SMART SKILLS

SMART STUDENT VOLUNTEERISM

The United Nation Educational Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has identified
four competencies (4Cs) for the 21st century learner and leader. These skills are
primarily integrated in the curricula and classroom setting. Urdaneta City University
believes that Critical thinking, Communicating, Collaborating and Creating skills are
the key qualities students ought to possess in the globally competitive landscape and
within the virtual communities produced by technological market.

Alongside these 4Cs of 21st century skills of UNESCO is the UCU’s pursuit of
implementing programs and projects that operationalize the UCU’s newest branding
campaign efforts collectively dubbed as Service-driven, Motivated, Achievment
focused and Transformed Team Player (S.M.A.R.T.) and Aim High be Amazing ( A.H.A.).

The Urdaneta City University has been named the first CHARACTER SCHOOL in Region 1
since 2004 promoting character transformation to all its populace and stakeholders.
This academic year 2015, UCU has its new advocacy strengthening its character
development and values formation going to the next level through SERVICE-DRIVEN,
MOTIVATED, ACHIEVEMENT focused and TRANSFORMED TEAM PLAYER (S.M.A.R.T.)
branding. This program highlights the vital role of educational institution in building,
reinforcing and communicating values essential in redefining the best asset, reputation,
and integrity of the university.

After series of S.M.A.R.T. seminars and trainings, UCUians are now ready to engage in
volunteerism. Students are required to actualize the ideals and values of SERVICE
DRIVEN, MOTIVATED, ACHIEVEMENT focused, RESPONSIVE and TRANSFORMED
TEAMPLAYER. This will help students build their existing skills and boast practical
experiences in their chosen field of profession.

The S.M.A.R.T. Resource Center prepares schedule of volunteers’ work in different

offices/departments of the university. Students will just share a few hours of their time

Aim High and be Amazing!
helping and assisting in different services rendered by these offices/departments,
helping in the clean-up drive of the university and sharing what they have or any simple
acts of self-sacrifice that they can do in the school and even in the community.

The essence of doing volunteers’ work is to train these UCUians to be active team
players in a diverse work groups and environment and to further develop their life and
global skills for their future chosen endeavor.

wishes to inform you regarding their forthcoming volunteerism activity in SMART 2A this 1st semester AY

volunteered hours is six (6). Moreover, the proposed volunteers’ work is according to their area of

specialization where their field of expertise will be utilized and further developed ( see attached volunteer

Thank you and rest assured that these noble efforts will contribute to the achievement of the

colleges/departments

Please see attached documents and forms that will be accomplished by student volunteers.
