1. Consider show windows as an ordinary window if there is no partition and use the above
factors. If there is a partition use base factor of 20 and the area of partition.
2. Factors based on 95˚F outdoor design temperature.
3. Overall window factor = base factor X shading multiplier.
4. Factors include both solar and transmission load.

1. Factor for appliances with properly designed hoods may be reduced by 50%.
2. Adjust ratings of machines that are not fully loaded or do not run continuously.
3. Appliance factors are not maximum values but are adjusted for average use. For
appliance not listed, use 50% of the manufactures rating.

Room sensible heat (RHS) = Room total heat (RTH) – (no. of people x latent factor from VII)
Sensible heat factor (SHF) = RSH/RTH
Total sensible heat (TSH) = RSH + (cfm x outdoor air factor – sensible from table VIII)

In determining the outdoor air quantity for calculating the outdoor air, please be guide as
follows:
a.) Outdoor air Through the unit

- No exhaust fans, use value from Table IX.

- Exhaust fans, use exhaust fan air quantity or values from Table IX whichever is
greater. In the absence of exhaust air information, base air for 20 air changes per
hour for toilet room and 10 air changes for other ventilated rooms.

b.) No outdoor air through the unit

- No exhaust fans, use 7 cubic feet per minute per person

- Exhaust fans, use exhaust air quantity
