Steelmaking is the process for producing steel from iron ore and scrap.

There are more than 7000 types of steel

depending upon compositions and applications.

For the manufacturing of steel first we need to make coke from coal in coking plants which will be used
to fuel the blast furnace. Here the coal is heated for 18 hrs.

Now the extracted iron ore from in-house mine deposits is shaped into solid balls called pellets in a
balling disk, and hardened in a kiln. The pellet and coke are the basic raw materials for blast furnaces.

Next, in the blast furnace, iron ore, pellets, sinter(mixed and melted form of dust, iron ore,by products of
steelmaking),coke and fluxes are charged through the top of the blast furnace. They melt as a result of
combustion of coke and hot air.

Liquid steel produced in a BOF(Basic Oxygen Furnace) is transported to a copper oscillating mold cooled
by water which solidifies the steel in the form of a transverse rectangular section called a slab .

The 8in slab is reheated, the same as the strip line, and reduced under heat on two reversible stand
equipped with horizontal rollers. this
