Water-play is fun

Today was hot and the perfect day for water play. After morning tea, the
children put on their hats and teacher Rosy put on their Sun block ready for
outside! The water trough was set up for Rowaa and her friends so they can
have fun. Even though there were also many different activities already set
up, Rowaa with a group of her friends choose to run straight to the water
trough. Rowaa picked a bucket and some toys and put it in the water, she
was so happy and excited. The water trough is such a social place for the
children to be with their peers, everyone gets to play, interact and enjoy
themselves. I noticed how focused you were while you filled and emptied the
water bucket. As you poured each cup in to the bucket, you were also
counting how many times you used the cup to fill up the bucket. Rowaa,
while you were playing with water you also increased your knowledge in
problem solving skills, maths concepts, such as more, less, empty, full and
counting. Moreover, developing your social skills, learning to play co-
operatively and share resources and materials. Next time when we have
water play we can explore another scientific concept on how materials float
and sink in the water.
