The selection of scorpion motor with a propeller combination of 20.5*13.

5 was chosen based on the

targeted payload to be lifted, minimum required thrust and maintaining an optimum thrust to weight
ratio. Various combinations of motors and propellers were analyzed using the thrust equation, The
above propeller combination with leopard and hacker motor resulted in higher current than the motor
capacity.

The esc used is castle talon 90. Gens ace 4500mah 6S 1P 60C LiPo battery was considered suitable for
powering the aircraft by considering the average flight time of one flight round in the competition which
is 5 minutes.

Digital servos were selected for the movement of the control surfaces since they provide higher torque,
higher acceleration and better holding capability. High torque servos having a torque of 18-20kgf-cm
were used in landing gear and elevator for higher maneuverability while servos with a torque of 8-12kgf-
cm were used for other control surfaces.

An onboard data acquisition system was implemented during test flight for the analysis of flight
performance parameters, which is a telemetry setup to analyze flight characteristics like roll, pitch, yaw,
altitude, vertical speed and takeoff speed. These values were correlated with the theoretical values.
These values were also instrumental as we were able to verify our design since the values obtained
proved that the sizing of the control surfaces was adequate to control the aircraft. The takeoff speed
was also verified which was obtained as 10.57 m/s and the theoretical values estimated was 11m/s.

The takeoff distance obtained from the DAQ was 53 feet which is nearly equal to the value calculated
which came out to be 55 feet
