OVERVIEW

Tata Chemicals Ltd is a global company with interests in businesses that focus on LIFE - living
industrial and farming essentials. Tata Chemicals currently is the world's third largest producer
of soda ash with manufacturing facilities in Asia Europe Africa and North America. Tata
Chemicals is the world's third largest producer of sodium bicarbonate which has applications
that range from food to pharmaceuticals to air pollution control. Tata Chemicals is the pioneer
and market leader in India's branded Iodised salt segment. The company sells pulses and spices
under the Tata Sampann brand. The company's Tata Swach range of water purifiers includes a
low-cost nanotechnology-based purifier that provides safe drinking water at affordable prices.
The company also makes nutraceuticals for healthy and tasty modern food. With its Farming
Essentials portfolio the company through its subsidiary Rallis India has a strong position in the
crop protection business.Tata Chemicals Ltd was incorporated on January 23 1939. In the year
1942 the company completed the bromine plant the first unit of the company's chemical works.
In the year 1943 they commissioned the auxiliary power plant. Also they commenced the
production of caustic soda liquid chlorine bleaching powder hydrochloric acid and zinc chloride.
In February 1944 the company started the soda ash production.

MANAGEMENT

R Mukundan
Managing Director and CEO

An engineer from IIT Roorkee, he joined the Tata Administrative Service in 1990, after
completion of MBA from FMS, Delhi University. He is also an alumnus of the Havard Business
School. During his 26-year career with the Tata group, he has held various responsibilities
across the chemical, automotive and hospitality sectors of the group. He serves on executive
committees of various industry forums viz the Confederation of Indian Industry, Bombay
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Employers' Federation of India, All India Management
Association, etc.

Zarir Langrana
Executive Director
Mr. Zarir Langrana currently heads the Global Chemicals Business of Tata Chemicals and is
responsible for operations and growth of the inorganic chemicals business and the new
ventures in Nutraceuticals and Silica.
In the past, Mr Langrana has headed the global marketing and strategy function overseeing and
directing all sales and marketing plans, developments, growth and new product activities and
processes in these two areas for its global chemicals business across the four continents where
it operates.

John Mulhall
Chief financial officer
John Mulhall is chief financial officer of Tata Chemicals.
He joined Tata Chemicals in 2007 as the European finance director of their recently acquired
subsidiary, Brunner Mond (UK), followed by positions in Tata Chemicals North America Inc., (VP
and CFO) and Tata Chemicals International Pte in Singapore (CFO) before relocating to Mumbai
in 2015.

Rackanchath Nanda

Rackanchath Nanda has completed his post graduation in human resources and has also done
several professional certifications and executive development programmes.
Mr Nanda has over three decades of rich experience in human resources across varied sectors
like manufacturing, trading, retail, consumer durables, FMCG, telecom and services.

Rajiv Chandan
General Counsel & Company Secretary
Rajiv Chandan is a fellow member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and has a
masters' degree in commerce and a law degree from the University of Mumbai.
Mr Chandan heads the legal, company secretarial and corporate governance functions at Tata
Chemicals. He has 25 plus years of experience in the areas of legal, company secretarial,
corporate laws, litigations, corporate governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions and
divestments, including cross-border M&A transactions. His experience is spread across diverse
industries, including the paper, automobiles, logistics, cement, chemicals, FMCG and fertiliser
sectors.

1. Low penetration of agricultural products in order to minimize transmission and distribution in
the market
2. Implementation of Accelerated Power Development & Reforms Program (APDRP) to prevent
losses occurring due to power theft, pilferages and improper billing

revenue flows in the future, especially from the consumer goods segment.
4. Acquisitions of Brunner Mond of UK, General Chemical Industrial Products Inc. of USA and
the ammonia-urea fertilizer complex in Gabon have resulted in increased capacities

Chemicals and Singapore’s Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory.

Threats:
1. Contractors’ and labor strikes, especially in Eastern India at Haldia have resulted in
shutdowns and major reshuffling of the management.
2. African communities focused on preventing the industrialization of their environment have
launched small-scale uprisings on the construction of soda ash plants in Tanzania.
3. Anti—dumping and trade regulations are becoming increasingly stringent and prohibitory.
