For the past few years, abortion is considered as a taboo, an unspoken secret and a sin.

People
refused to acknowledge it as a way to save someone's life and rejected the idea of sparing
someone from the pain, embarrassment and burden they can experience. It existed before it was
pointed out and as time goes by it became a norm. A norm that has been accepted by the few.
Many resorted to this kind of procedure due to different reasons and few of them are teenagers
who engaged in pre-marital sex with no protection led into unwanted pregnancy wherein none
of them are ready for the responsibilities, rape victims who are forced to carry someone’s child
and unfortunate people who cannot provide for their family. But there are times that even
though they have the money and prepared in commitment but if the body is not suitable and
cannot handle the pregnancy, abortion is done to avoid risks and a stop in pregnancy is wanted
if abnormalities are detected. Legalizing abortion have benefits in physical and mental health, it
could be an advantage to improve life and be a better person, effects of abortion that gave a new
chance for someone to live to the fullest, and how abortion is a right of women and only them is
the owner of their body.
Religious beliefs has the biggest impact on how people perceive abortion but women should have
a choice about whether or when to have children. They might use contraceptives but only few
could manage to get hold of it and in addition it is not readily available to many women of
childbearing age and due to that reason, women relies on abortion. In the Philippines where
abortion illegal, women suffers from reproductive tract damage, infection, bleeding, permanent
sterility, or death but if it was legalized there would be a decrease in all pregnancy-related deaths
and an even greater drop in pregnancy due to its availability in hospital or any health-related
organization. Legalization of abortion is the only feasible way to approach the traditional family
planning goal of "every child a wanted child" in the foreseeable future which is supported by a
claim that "a wanted child has a much better chance of receiving an adequate upbringing than
an unwanted child".
