Construction Project of Bergerak Tambolaka Hospital

1. Prepare environmental analysis :

 Where are we ?

The project is located at Desa Ramadana, Loura, Kabupaten Sumba Barat Daya, Nusa
Tenggara Timur. From the map we can see that this site position is on the south of
Komodo National Park or on the northwest of Sumba island, to be specific this site is 7
minutes drives by car from the Kita beach to the south.
 How and why do we get here ?
 From our office that located at Tambolaka city we take route to the east and follow the
main road until we meet a T-junction towards Kita beach and we turn left to that route
and the site is beside Puskesmas Ramadata. We come here to build the Bergerak
Tambolaka hospital and make sure the building meet the specification on time, cost, and
quality.

2. Set objectives :

 Is this where we want to be ?

Yes, because this building is for supporting health infrastructure on that area so we must
build special facility / specification such as : sound control – nurse call, fire fighting,
cable panel, generator set, AC and mechanical ventilation. This building only 1 floor and
we must do some leveling because the site condition is bumpy.
 Where would we like to be ? in a month ? in five months ?
In the first month we will do the clearing, preparing, and finish the soil leveling, after that
in the fifth month we have target to finish the structural item such as : foundation, bottom
beam, column, and beam.

7. Prepare action programs :

 What do we need to do ?
When do the finishing works especially on building the wall, we use thin bed mortar to
place the brick so they can stick well together and minimize the amount of mortar we
need and to reduce cavity in the wall to support the soundproof of the building.
 When do we need to do it ?
We use this method when we build the wall on the seventh month of works.
 How we will do it ?
To do it first we need to make the thin bed mortar mixture and make sure the temperature
is cool enough to prevent the hardening of mixture. Place the thin bed mortar as the
change of normal mortar and make sure the thickness is 1 – 2 mm and the surface of the
brick is clean from dust before placing it.
 Who will do it ?
The one who did this will be the workman that already familiar with this method before.

8. Monitor and Control :

 Are we on course ? if not, why ?

No, because not every worker is familiar with this new method so some part of the wall is
not placed well enough and the thickness of mortar is more than 2 mm.
 What do we need to do be on course ?
We must control every progress of building the wall, and if the false part is already build,
we need to cover the mortar part with more thin bed mortar so we can cover the cavity.
 Can we do it ?
Yes, we can do it because this mistake is not new to us.
