As we know Philippines our country is still a developing country compared to

China, it is much more developed and wealthier country. Though we are still a developing
country there are advantages and disadvantages on different aspects. Looking at our
cultural aspects, we can say that our country is richer than of china’s. “Culturally, Filipinos
are typically child-and family-centered with the family as the most influential social unit.
Within the family, a high value is placed on respect for the authority of parents, and on
children's welfare as the center of a family's goals (Morillo, Capuno, & Mendoza, 2013).”
Because we are colonized by the Spaniards our country has an influence of the western
culture and as a Filipino we can say that we are more Family centered than those of the
China’s. “The Filipino family provides an interesting study because familism is embedded
in its social sphere, translating its relational quality outside the family. Being family-
centred, child-centric, having close ties, and a large family size (Medina, 2001; Miralao,
1994) are some basic elements of families in the Philippines”-Views and Values on Family
among Filipinos: An Empirical Exploration(Morillo et al.)(2013) We value our family than
other materialistic things and by this characteristic we are known to be one of the most
hospitable people around the world. But there is a disadvantage in being to family
centered, people in our country most especially when it comes to politics creates a feeling
that we should take care of our family and thus we should always put them first. This kind
of mentality or practice creates a deeper problem which makes them corrupt and
disordered which also affect the country. This can be a way that we can say that our
country is very slow when it comes to development.

While in China they are being more “Materialistic Person”. “A two-factor structure,
rather than the original three-factor structure, was proposed for China by means of
confirmatory factor analysis. Direct evidence showed that the dimensions of success and
happiness could be merged together. Both explicit and implicit methods were used to
examine the relationship between success and happiness based on possession. In
particular, as an implicit method, the dot-probe paradigm recording participants’ response
time supported the idea that the two-factors could be merged together. The results also
showed that for Chinese people, success to an extent means happiness, while the
converse is not necessarily true. Chinese are much more concerned about social
evaluation than their own feelings, and this cultural characteristic is reflected in our
findings.” The Structure of the Chinese Material Value Scale: An Eastern Cultural View
(Liao & Wang) (2017). We know how Chinese handle their businesses and their name
specifically their family name matters in their country. They practice this to child policy
and they value their son more than their daughter because they know that their son will
carry their name as they go on. They may be a developed country but they have flaws
like ours. They may disregard the idea of being a family centered person thus we can see
that most of them are disciplined in a way that they strived for their own selves. But the
draw back here is that they lack the sympathy for others which is a consequence of them
disregarding the Family centered culture or practice.
