Progeria, also known as Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome, is a rare genetic disease

that causes rapid aging of children between one and two years and leads to

premature death.

Children with this disorder can suffer heart attacks and strokes from 5 years,

and their life expectancy is approximately 13 years.

Progeria affects one in eight million live newborns, some of them may die

younger and others may live longer, even up to 20 years.

A single mutation of a gene is responsible for progeria. Which produces an

alteration in a proteins. It causes a delay in growth, with a height and with a

weight below average, broken bones.
