Engine Triton (4N15)

Mitsubishi's new clean diesel engines use a 200 MPa (2,000 bar) high-pressure common rail
injection system to improve combustion efficiency. The 4N13 1.8 L (1,798 cc) uses solenoid fuel-
injectors. The larger 4N14 2.3 L (2,268 cc) engine uses piezo fuel-injectors that produce a finer fuel
spray. Both engines feature a fast ceramic glow plug system. The engines are designed to operate at
a lower compression ratio, thus lowering the combustion pressure, allowing the use of an aluminium
cylinder block that reduces weight.

The 4N13 1.8 L (1,798 cc) engine uses a Variable Geometry (VG) turbocharger with a variable
vane turbine, which provides optimal boost pressure control for different driving conditions. The
4N14 2.3 L (2,268 cc) engine also uses a VG turbocharger plus a Variable Diffuser (VD) that uses both
variable geometry vanes in the turbine housing and a compressor with variable vanes in the diffuser
passage, further improving combustion efficiency.

Within the engine, Mitsubishi used an offset angle crankshaft that reduces friction, therefore
noise and vibration, allowing the engine to run smoothly and quietly at all engine speeds.

At the core of Triton sits this refined and super-responsive 2.4L DOHC MIVEC 16 valve
common rail intercooled diesel engine. An aluminium cylinder block, and strong yet lightweight
materials reduce weight, and with a compression ratio of 15.5:1, it’s among the quietest and most
efficient diesel engines on the market contributing to better torque and speed power across the
whole rev range.

In fact, we know it will exceed your expectations. Peak power is 133kW at 3500rpm, while
torque is an impressive 430Nm at 2500rpm across both manual and automatic transmission models.
The lightweight engine achieves low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions across the range, while
also delivering outstanding power and performance.

6-Speed Manual Transmission or 6-Speed Auto with Manual Shift Mode Triton’s turbo diesel
power is matched to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed auto transmission with Manual
Shift Mode that allows you to change gears with the ease of shift for manual-like driving control.

TOUGH SUSPENSION
The rugged suspension features double wishbones with coil springs and a stabilizer bar in
front, plus no-nonsense above-the-axle leaf springs in the rear for outstanding traction. The ride is
stable and comfortable for all occupants.

ENHANCED REAR SUSPENSION

Ride in comfort with rear suspension that can handle rough and bumpy road surfaces with
ease. Optimized leaf springs and increased diameter for the rear shock absorbers give a smooth ride
and neutralize vibration.
Steering System
When a rack and pinion system is connected to a power steering system, the design changes
slightly. A cylinder with a piston in the middle is placed in the rack. There is fluid on both sides of the
piston. When pressure is placed on the fluid on one side of the piston, it forces the piston to move,
which turns the rack and assists with steering.
