Bell work: (Approximately 10 minutes with discussion) Allow students approximately 5 minutes to

complete bell work in groups of your choice (individually, pairs, quads etc.)

Bell work problems:

Ryan rolls a fair number cube. Each side is numbered from 1 to 6. Find the probability that Ryan rolls
the following (represent your answer as a ratio.)

P(4)=

P(7)=

P(a number other than 6)=

P(odd number)=

P(a whole number)=

After time is up, discuss the answers given. Ask groups to provide their answers and check for
accuracy.

Formative Assessment: (approximately 5-7 minutes):

Let’s take a look at where some probabilities will fit on our number line. Using your answers from bell
work I would like you to tell me the likelihood of each event. Use your number lines and the
numerical values we have “assigned” to each term to help you.

What is the likelihood of rolling a four? Why?

What is the likelihood of rolling a seven? Why?

What is the likelihood of rolling a number other than six?

What is the likelihood of rolling an odd number?

What is the likelihood of rolling a whole number?
