Praxis Analysis

The Praxis Core Exam is a required test that must be passed before continuing your

pursuit of becoming a teacher. This test must be taken and passed before you can enroll in

classes for a bachelor’s program. The passing score for reading is 156. The passing score for

writing is 162. The passing score for math is 150.

I did not prepare for the practice exams as I felt it would be good to see where I currently

stand on the test and which areas, I would need to focus on more than the others. My sister had

recently taken the Praxis so I also asked her for advice on what to expect from this exam. I also

work as a math tutor, so I felt this would adequately prepare me to take the math portion of this

exam.

The math exam I scored 76% which indicates that I am borderline able to pass. I will

need to study for this test before I take the Praxis. I scored an 85% on the writing which indicates

I am likely to pass. I did the worst on the reading where I only got a 45%. This test will require

the most preparation out of the three.

Going forward I will prepare by reading through the practice questions provided. I also

received a book from the library that will help me prepare for the test. Studying praxis prep

books for each subject will help greatly with that. I will also practice working on these problems
for an extended period of time as I did have a tendency to get distracted while working on the

practice test. I will also need to study without any distractions.
