Tilda Swinton
Tilda Swinton (Full name Katherine Matilda Swinton) was born in London but is
Scottish. Tilda started acting in student productions at the University of
Cambridge. Tilda then went on to get a bachelors degree at the University in
1983 in social and political sciences and English literature.
Tilda then went on to perform with the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and also
with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
In 1986, Tilda was cast in her first film Caravaggio. This was with artist and
director Derek Jarman; Tilda was in a total of 8 of Jaman’s films.
Tilda then went on to act in more films such as: Orlando, The Beach and The
Deep End.
In 2005, Tilda was the White Witch in The Chronicles of Narnia and then its two
sequels in 2008 and 2010.
