DESIGN BRIEF

TOPIC: - HOSPICE CARE CENTRE FOR TERMINALLY ILL


CANCER PATIENT

India is new to the concept of palliative. The concept is not completely understood and is
focused in the South part of India. The absence of a built space catering to cancer center
along with palliative needs to be addressed.

The basis of this project thesis is to introduce a new building type that serves the terminally
ill patients, both adults as well as children, & their family members by creating a building
that is designed & prepared to meet their required needs.

The Centre will function in order to address the needs of the users, also to maintain and
enhance several aspects of patient’s final days. It will focus on minimizing the pain and ache
associated with illness.

Other objectives of the present paper are:

 To explore different aspects of the built environment


 To outline the physical features in healing environment
 To examine the previous and current research available on the subject of health and
environment, design for healing and the effect of daylighting on human beings.
 To find and analyses the relationship between the architecture design of the centers
and the psychology and behavior of cancer patients.
