(this scene Is about stereotyping a Bengali guy when we first met as an learning team Rajat and
Varun are already friends and in this scene Rajat and Varun will be making their judgment about
a Kaushik who is a Bengali guy and will meet him with that assumption only. )
Rajat: hey Varun, how are you?
Varun: hello, I am good, how are you?
Rajat: I am also good, are you aware about our new teammate Kaushik Mukherjee.
Varun: yes, I have, and I think he is from Calcutta.
Rajat: yes of course Mukherjee’s, Banerjee’s are mostly from their only.
Varun: I have heard that Bengali’s are not very cooperative people and due to their feeding habits
they are not the ones how are very hygienic how will we be able to manage our projects.
Rajat: yes, even I have heard so let’s see what happens. Kaushik is here. Hello, Kaushik.
Varun: Hello Kaushik.
Kaushik: Hello Rajat, Hello Varun.
(Rajat and Varun give a very bad expression to Kaushik after the handshake and then neglected
him).

SCENE 2-
(This scene is about the cross-cultural work scenario difficulties which is faced by Kaushik when
he tries to fit in with the team. Scene starts with the team discussing about a project.)

Rajat: hey guys, lets discuss about our social media communication presentation today.
Varun: yeah sure, Kaushik would you like to give some inputs on how we work on this
presentation.
(Kaushik tries to give his input in Bengali language)
Varun: hey wait wait, Rajat what is all this do you really think we will be able to work with such
people. I don’t think so man.
Rajat: yeah Varun even I don’t think so we will be able to work like this. We should discuss
among ourselves and will give him some role in presentation. What do you say?
Kaushik: hey I am sorry for using Bengali, we can discuss the project in English also.
(Kaushik offers water to us, but we refuse have it)
Varun: Rajat I agree with what you said, we will discuss it among ourselves. Kaushik we will tell
you your part just do that please.
(Kaushik felt neglected and was very sad, he thought that he is not respected in his group and his
presence doesn’t matter.)

SCENE 3-
(After all these things now Kaushik has started thinking that nobody likes him neither they respect
him so he is very tensed about it. So now Himanshu will try and solve the cross-cultural difficulty
among our LT).

Himanshu: Kaushik what happened to you why are you so sad?

Kaushik: its just that my inputs, my opinions are not mattered our learning team.
Himanshu: why do you think so Kaushik what happened?
Kaushik: Himanshu I am a Bengali person because of which they think I am unhygienic they
refused to take water from me. I am not good in the language they prefer(Hindi) that’s why they
were not listening to my opinions as well. What should I do Himanshu tell me?
Himanshu: I will talk to them Kaushik you don’t have to worry about it. Things will get sorted
just don’t get tensed.
Kaushik: thanks, Himanshu.
(Himanshu come to talk with Rajat and Varun).
Himanshu: guys why are you behaving like this with Kaushik. He is a nice person, we should not
fight amongst ourselves for this small language barrier we can all talk in English.
Varun: he is from Bengal Himanshu and don’t you know how Bengali people are, they are so
unhygienic their feeding habits and the they eat is not at all good.
Rajat: I completely agree with Varun we cannot be friends with him. We will give him his task
and that’s it. We can’t involve him in our conversations.
Himanshu: see he is a nice person he knows there are cross cultural differences but still he is open
to work with us in a normal way. Can’t we also do so? Instead od stereotyping him I think we
should give him an opportunity first we should listen to him talk to him and give him an equal and
fair opportunity. Also, Rajat Varun we are not Bengali, Punjabi, Maharashtrian’s we are Indians
we should respect everyone equally.
Rajat: you are right Himanshu I think we did a mistake we should have given him a fair chance;
I am sorry for what happened.
Varun: Even I am sorry for what happened, we all are Indians we should give equal opportunity
to each other.
(Rajat and Varun went to Kaushik and apologised to him for their mistake).

VI. Group Co-ordination:

Everyone had a meeting wherein we read the cross-cultural handout, brainstorming was done
and scenes were prepared. We thought of cross-cultural concepts that would be cover by us.
After finalizing the scenes, we penned down the script. We decided on the roles and rehearsed
it. This was a dedicated group activity and we accomplished it by doing it so.
